Summary of Life

GREAT TRUTHS THAT ADULTS HAVE LEARNED:

1) Raising teenagers is like nailing jelly to a tree.
2) Wrinkles don’t hurt.
3) Families are like fudge….mostly sweet, with a few nuts
4) Today’s mighty oak is just yesterday’s nut that held its ground..
5) Laughing is good exercise. It’s like jogging on the inside.
6) Middle age is when you choose your cereal for the fiber, not the toy.

GREAT TRUTHS ABOUT GROWING OLD

1) Growing old is mandatory; growing up is optional..
2) Forget the health food. I need all the preservatives I can get.
3) When you fall down, you wonder what else you can do while you’re down
there.
4) You’re getting old when you get the same sensation from a rocking chair
that you once got from a roller coaster.
5) It’s frustrating when you know all the answers but nobody bothers to ask
you the questions.
6) Time may be a great healer, but it’s a lousy beautician
7) Wisdom comes with age, but sometimes age comes alone.

Make Enjoyment Your Choice

When you enjoy what you’re doing, you’re highly effective at it. So whatever you may be doing, make the choice to find something enjoyable about it.

You don’t have to wait for a special day or event to start enjoying life. You can enjoy it now, and any time you choose.

Enjoy the challenges as well as the pleasures. Enjoy times of effort and times of relaxation.

Don’t ever cheat yourself out of the opportunity for enjoyment. Instead of placing a judgment on the situation, give joy to it.

It makes no sense to put limitations on your enjoyment of life. Make enjoyment your choice, and choose it often.

See if you can enjoy where you are, what you’re doing, who you’re with, and who you are. The more you enjoy it, the better life is.

When we are in heaven our money is still in the bank.
When we are alive we don’t have enough money to spend.
When we are gone there is still a

lot of money not spent.
One tycoon in China passed away,
His widow, left with $1.9 billion in the bank, remarried his chauffeur.
His chauffeur

said, "All the while I thought I was working for my boss. Now only I realise that my boss was all the time working for me !!! "
The cruel

reality is:
It is more important to live longer than to have more wealth.
So we must strive to have a strong and healthy body,
it doesn’t matter

who is working for who.
A high end hand phone, 70% of the functions are useless.
An expensive car, 70% of the speed is not needed.
A luxurious

villa, 70% of the space is not occupied.
A whole wardrobe of clothes, 70% of it is not worn.
A whole life of earning, 70% is for other people to

use.
So we must protect and make full use of our 30%.
Go for medical exam even if not sick.
Drink more water even if not thirsty.
Must let go even

if faced with grave problems.
Must give in even if you are in the right.
Must be humble even if you are very powerful.
Must be contented even if

you are not rich.
Must exercise even if you are very busy. .

There was a man with four wives. He loved his fourth wife the most and took
a great care of her and gave her the best. He also loved his third wife
and always wanted to show her off to his friends. However, he was always
had a fear that she might runaway with some other man. He loved his second
wife too. Whenever he faced some problems, he always turned to his second
wife and she would always help him out. He did not love his first wife
though she loved him deeply, was very loyal to him and took great care of
him. One day the man fell very ill and knew that he is going to die soon.
He told himself, “I have four wives with me. I will take one of them along
with me when I die to keep company in my death.”
Thus, he asked the fourth wife to die along with him and keep company. “No
way!” she replied and walked away without another word.
He asked his third wife. She said “Life is so good over here. I’m going to
remarry when you die”.
He then asked his second wife. She said “I’m Sorry. I can’t help you this
time around. At the most I can only accompany you til your grave.”
By now his heart sank and turned cold.
Then a voice called out: “I’ll leave with you. I’ll follow you no matter
where you go.” the man looked up and there was his first wife. She was so
skinny, almost like she suffered from malnutrition. Greatly grieved, the
man said, “I should have taken much better care of you while I could have!”

Actually, we all have four wives in our lives.

a. The fourth wife is our body. No matter how much time and effort we
lavish in making it look good, it’ll leave us when w die.

The third wife is our possessions, status and wealth. When we die, they
go to others.

c. the second wife is our family and friends. No matter how close they
had been there for us when we’re alive, the furthest they can stay by us is
up to the grave.

d. the first wife is our soul, neglected in our pursuit of material
wealth and pleasure. It is actually the only thing that follows us wherever we go.
One of the best message I have gottttt. …
Take chances..
Tell the truth…
Learn to say NO…
Spend money on the things u love
…
Laugh till ur stomach hurts…
Dance Even if u are too bad at it…
Pose stupidly for photos…
Be child-like…..

Moral: Death is not the greatest loss in life..
Loss is when life dies inside u

Krisha Gotami, a young woman had the fortune to live at the time of the Buddha. When her first born child was about a year old, it fell ill and died. Grief- stricken and clutching its little body, Krisha Gotami roamed the streets, begging everyone she met for a medicine that could restore her child to life. Some ignored her, some laughed at her, and some thought she was mad, but finally she met a wise man who told her that the only person who could perform the miracle she was looking for was the Buddha.

So she went to the Buddha, laid the body of her child at His feet and told Him her story. The Buddha listened with infinite compassion. Then he said gently``There is only one way to heal your affliction. Go down to the city and bring me back a mustard seed from any house in which there has never been a death`
`.
Krisha Gotami felt elated and set off at once to the city. She stopped at the first house she saw and said ``I have been told by the Buddha to fetch a mustard seed from a house that has never known death``

``Many people have died in this house``, she was told. She went on to the next house`` There have been countless deaths in our family``, they said. And so to a third and a fourth house, until she had been all round the city and realized that the Buddha’s condition could not be fulfilled.

She took the body of the child to the burial ground and said good bye to him for the last time then returned to the Buddha. ``Did you bring the mustard seed ``, He asked.

``No``, she said, ``I am beginning to understand the lesson you are trying to teach me. Grief made me blind and I thought that only I suffered at the hands of death``.

``Why have you come back? `` asked the Buddha. To ask you to teach me the truth``, she replied ``of what death is, what might lie behind and beyond death, and what in me, if anything will not die``.

The Buddha then began to teach her, ``If you were to know the truth of life and death, you must reflect continually on this: There is only one law in this universe that never changes—that all things change and that all things are impermanent. The death of your child has helped you to see now the realm we are in-Samsara is an ocean of unbearable suffering. There is only one way , and only one way, out of samsaras ceaseless round of birth and death, which is the path to liberation. Because pain has now made you to learn and your heart is now opening to the truth, I will show it to you``.

Krisha Gotami knelt at His feet and followed the Buddha the rest of her life. Near the end of it, she attained enlightenment.

Many believe that happiness is achieved through material wealth. It is true that it gives a temporary sense of well being. A rich person is not someone who has more but someone who desires less. Happiness is the result of total appreciation of all that life gives you at every moment.
