What made JNU mess up so suddenly? Anyone from JNU here?
(I think this is a National issue rather than Politics.)
such (alleged) deforestation incidents/ calamities will never make for ‘good prime-time story’ for the sleaze-ball electronic media
Fire ravages Bandipur tiger reserve; 500 acres gutted
over 350-400 acres = ‘..minor ground fire..’ seriously !!
I have a few questions, if anyone can please answer them.
(1) Who can give -ve Karma in DesiDime
(2) I got negative Karma (i guess ‘-2’ points) on some post, with a mildly derogatory remark of “Shit logic.” and no identity. Amount of Karma doesn’t matter to me, but the insult in form of such mistreatment hurts. When you do your best be as dedicated as you can, and are treated like this, it hurts somewhere.
Just want to know the opinion of any of the regular posters/participants of the community on this… Is it acceptable and should be tolerated to receive negative Karma anonymously without a proper explanation? If it is okey and not against the Principles on which DesiDime community is laid, I don’t have any issues… I can very well ignore that remark and move ahead. Else if it is not justified, then just wanted to bring it to the notice of concerned people that ‘negative karma’ is being used in this manner as well. Upto them to see the merits and demerits.
PS: For the post on which I received negative Karma, I can share the URL in PM, on the condition that its not shared openly. Don’t want to re-start an already buried/ forgotten/ ignored/ over-discussed topic.
Everyone Stay beautiful and be Kind to everyone
I am tagging a few people active people of DesiDime if they don’t mind… Actually I am still seeking a response to my above post. Hope they can help me by answering or directing me to the right person.

PS: Sorry for tagging you for something that’s not your job to answer. Please let me know if in any way these tags hampers your DesiDiming experience, I will take care of not repeating it ever.
@aniey72 only Deal Major and above can give -ve karma points…. so there has to be a genuine reason behind this for sure….
@aniey72 As @myliferockkss pointed out, only Deal Majors and above can give negative Karma. Since you received -2 points, that means the Karma was given by a Deal Major. If it were a Deal Colonel, the negative points would have been -3.
As for your second point about the Karma being anonymous, I have spoken about this absurdity on multiple occasions (having received some good & bad anonymous Karma messages myself). But the admins have failed to fix the system to avoid such misuse. Ref: https://www.desidime.com/forums/dost-and-dimes/t... and https://www.desidime.com/forums/dost-and-dimes/t...
P.S. I have noticed your recent posts about the Freedom251 controversy, but I am way too occupied with traveling at the moment to form a proper opinion, let alone express mine in a decent way. This negative Karma incident was most likely a result of your difference of opinion with the other involved users.
@Beinghuman as far as i can understand it’s practically not possible for anyone to know which are the famous books or what other people think about that book.
A book may be unknown to a person but when he reads that he may find it fantastic.

So do you believe in posting X/Y/Z as a Deal ?

Yes coz I don’t see any other solution to it and moreover users taste regarding deals is unknown. I think mods/admins face similar issue while promoting deals. That’s why we see some deals being promoted after a lot of time gap after being posted in the forum.
@saymyname @Magus Your Views Please ?
Thanks @GoogleCA !

Views for book to be promoted ?
I did not find your post on this page.
If it is about book to be promoted, then I say it’s of no use. I can post such books daily with mild decrease in price.
And if anyone is that interested in that book then he would buy it at any cost… Books are priceless.. I never judge a book by its price nor would I buy a book simply because it is cheap.

Anyway i guess you have answered it !

At the cost of being seen as uninvited participant, I am still presenting my views for “The Sympathy Wave” being presented as a deal.
In my opinion, if the reviews# , of the book are good and points that it might be a good read, then huge price drop on such books deserves to be presented as a separate thread. But again its quite subjective as what can be the criteria of “Good Reviews”.
Also, the books that are yet unknown and much people haven’t reviewed the same at any source (Amazon, Flipkart, goodreads.com etc), then they should not be posted in hot deals, even at huge price drops.
#Reviews: Preferably Amazon, Goodreads.com and Flipkart. Snapdeal reviews are mostly senseless, meaningless, fake or Garbage so doesn’t help in judging the real worth of a product.

Please complete the sentence, I am finding multiple meanings here.
@Beinghuman @saymyname @aniey72 my view is just that the deal poster isn’t paid a huge amount that first he should judge whether a book is famous or not. Then he should find how are the reviews of the books. Practically Impossible. So it’s better that a price difference is presented as a deal. I assume people are prudent enough to visit the site check the content and reviews of the book and decide whether they want to purchase that or not.

@GoogleCA Why would one post such a deal ? Logically one would post a deal when he finds a certain product at a price, of which it is worth or less.
In books/movies case too, if one likes a certain segment then he can judge by reviews if it is good or not.

Couldn’t understand your point. I mean your logic is not clear.

I fully agree with your point and would like to add its one of those topic where arriving at consensus is quite difficult or impossible.
My reason for suggesting posting ‘books-deals’ after checking the reviews was, because to me deals of books without reviews (or precheck) are same as deal like “SumSang LED TV, MRP 45000, deal price 15,000 @ Shopclues” etc. I mean, for branded products we get to estimate their worth from brand-name (quality and after-service), but for books reviews (not the price) is the criteria to judge their worth. Again as you said, anybody before purchasing the deal can always check the reviews himself/herself, but too many book-threads without pre-scrutiny by OP on the basis of reviews, will be like too many unbranded products in Hot Deals section.
