Dear Admin, I would request you to make a [sticky] Chat Thread in Dost and Dimes section. This will make the place more interactive and friendlier. It is not sensible to create a new thread just to say hi/hello and it is a REAL PAIN chatting with someone through the PM box. Let me know what you feel in this regard.

Many funds which mimic those specific indices, would be forced to buy those stocks.
Other DIIs, FIIs too might start moving more funds into the stocks which are included,

@GoogleCA Why would one post such a deal ? Logically one would post a deal when he finds a certain product at a price, of which it is worth or less.
In books/movies case too, if one likes a certain segment then he can judge by reviews if it is good or not.

Couldn’t understand your point. I mean your logic is not clear.

So let’s say you use XYZ devices and you are pretty happy with that and their service, so you are more likely to post/suggest their devices when there is a price drop. Those devices may be unknown to people but you can back them up because you have used it. If not you some of your relatives/friend have used and you trust them. You would not post that deal if that brand is unknown to you.

In books case it becomes difficult because there are no standards to measure it and it is highly subjective.

@Beinghuman @saymyname @aniey72 my view is just that the deal poster isn’t paid a huge amount that first he should judge whether a book is famous or not. Then he should find how are the reviews of the books. Practically Impossible. So it’s better that a price difference is presented as a deal. I assume people are prudent enough to visit the site check the content and reviews of the book and decide whether they want to purchase that or not.

I fully agree with your point and would like to add its one of those topic where arriving at consensus is quite difficult or impossible.

My reason for suggesting posting ‘books-deals’ after checking the reviews was, because to me deals of books without reviews (or precheck) are same as deal like “SumSang LED TV, MRP 45000, deal price 15,000 @ Shopclues” etc. I mean, for branded products we get to estimate their worth from brand-name (quality and after-service), but for books reviews (not the price) is the criteria to judge their worth. Again as you said, anybody before purchasing the deal can always check the reviews himself/herself, but* too many book-threads without pre-scrutiny by OP* on the basis of reviews, will be like too many unbranded products in Hot Deals section.

Exactly that was the point I was trying to make. If I do not have any clue about the book, why would I research about its prices.

That’s what i m saying. It becomes difficult for OP to decide also. So one should take as another deal thread and decide.

But why would I do PC of a book I don’t know.

Is it because I have no better work to do and plus that may give me a FPD, dimes and lots of Karma

Now plenty of book deals. Seems time to create a book section. biggrin

I think once they make a separate book section where one won’t get dimes for posting then you won’t find any book deals. biggrin

What ? wink I didn’t get you.

Beinghuman asked whether book deals should be posted and I answered that it wasn’t necessary. And ultimately I proved that it is unnedcessary

@saymyname books deals are obviously posted for FPD etc. Do you think one thinks ahhh! This book is very good. Let’s just share it with my friends in the forum? If one has to just share it then why would he post price comparison with it as well. Moreover he can share that in pm, D&D section with his friends. I don’t find anything wrong in this as well bcoz DD is earning from those.

As aniey72 was pointing out may be they did not try those books because their price was high. Ahy he would share it in PM or DnD when he clearly knows that many people would get benefited with that book.

And I never denied about FPD but I was arguing about posting a deal which you have no clue about.
