How to get a evdo sim in BSNL without them asking me to activate the evdo plan of 350? Can I just ask them to give me a cdma sim and still get evdo speeds?

Usually they wont
I was charged 350+40 when they issued me the sim, they were like we need to pay 390 as part of isssuing the sim not like activating some addon later

When i was at BSNL Exchange like in december they told me that we cant make calls with CDMA sim at all I got to know that we can when i tried it myself. Most of them over BSNL Exchange doesnt even have the exact information

That is partially correct.
We can make calls from cdma sim In 1X mode but when the network is changed to EVDO mode calls are not possible just like 4g network is used for data transfers and 3g or 2g is used for calling and sms purpose.

I have bought Mts Ac 2766 unlocked dongle from ebay. But it was not unlocked when i received it. I unlocked it by following the process by @thrifty_indian.
And now it works for connecting net but when ever i try to make calls or any one calls me i do receive the call but neither i or the person whom i have called can hear a thing. I tried to send sms to my Cdma number but i never received any message till date. So i can’t check my balance on this dongle. My telecom circle is Jharkhand and there is no online portal to check balance for my state. I searched a little and found a person who have an old Samsung Cdma phone i put my sim in it and then i was able to make calls ( and yes other side person whom i called could hear me perfectly and i got to know i have Rs.390 balance in my account ).
So my main query is " Is there a way from which i can check my balance for my number"
For now i just recharge from Freecharge and i start using it blindly. i am putting some screen short for letting you guys know the situation a little better

I got an used basic mts set from a mts service center for just Rs.100. You will get phones with battery issues, hearing problems etc for free (he offered me a phone for free but the # key was not working so i didn’t take it) or at throwaway prices. Useful for checking balances and calling customer care if required.

May be u can try re-installing bsnl dashboard?

Went to one of the telephone exchanges here in Bangalore today and they told me that they are phasing out EVDO. They are not issuing new evdo sim connections

For checking balance as SMS , do as following

1) Settings → Use 1X only mode / Hybrid mode (EVDO mode doesnot support call / SMS feature)

2) Dial *123 and call. ( Do Not dial *123# or 123)

tell the result.

It’s dashboard problem. Use another one. Ask the users above to upload their dashboard.

anyone using tp link 8968 with zte ac2766 usb modem with bsnl evdo service? I want to share evdo connection through router and not able to do that with simple options given in router config pages. Need help kind of urgently as i have recharged for 55 rs pack yesterday only.

Check the website for firmware upgrade and install the latest firmware if you are not on one.

Btw i have made setting in dashboard software to stay on evdo network only and not 1x so that i dont get sms or call to interupt my connection. That green light means you are getting EVDO signal. You won’t be able to make or receive calls and sms on EVDO signal.

my router tp 8968 ip is 192.168.1.1 so i am using that ip. And router does show modem as identified. It just doesnt connect to evdo data successfully. I am using ‘cdma’ as username and password btw since i use same on usb modem dashboard software as instructed by bsnl staff.

Kindly check in network if you have saved the right settings for it to be connected
Edit: Set username and password as 165 and them you will certainly be able to connect it through router. Sorry missed the username part earlier. By the way may i know your circle
