The morons are going backwards. Used to recharge for 2 day unlimited data for Rs.55 on BSNL EDVO in case of excessive data need. Now, they have block the recharge even before payment page, ’It’s not a valid BSNL recharge’. Freecharge didn’t have the plans earlier, recharged once and got Rs.50 as balance complained to freecharge but no use.
842 rs monthly pack is not getting activated via free recharge
transaction getting failed everytime

My 1 friend is also willing to buy BSNL EVDO but exchange people don’t have device and Sim from last 1 month and now they are saying that EVDO service will be rolled off after 31st March 2016 in Jharkhand (not sure about other circle)

Yes they would wind up evdo service gradually I believe. Something to do with their spectrum surrendering to boost profitability, at least that’s what the lady in BSNL office told me. I read in a different thread about BSNL sending a letter in UP about this.

Yes bro it has good service at that price and thought of using it as a backup connection when my data needs are high. I even called 7 exchanges and a CSC. They all had the same answer that it is not available and would never be issued going further.

Probably its for certain circles i guess
I had issues with EVDO for the past week so i visited BSNL exchange like 2 or 3 times , had a conversation with their CDMA/EVDO support executive but they didnt say a word about this
Infact i was so jealous to see their EVDO test devices, those ZTE devices have their own antenna like a WLL phone

East Bangalore
And the sim activation process is also fairly easy, sim will be activated within 4 hours
They will ask for local referee phone no and address but they dont even call them for verifiation

Opps thats strange ..
Kindly check in network if you have saved the right settings for it to be connected
Edit: Set username and password as 165 and them you will certainly be able to connect it through router. Sorry missed the username part earlier. By the way may i know your circle
165 username, password didnt work. I am from Pune (MH circle).
Strangely, ‘connect’ button stays disabled only sometimes. Btw under what circumstances router will shift to 3G/evdo in my case? Say if i disconnect adsl cable manually or disconnect dataone connection manaully from router config page, will router attempt to make connection through usb modem?

Hey, I tried registering on genext. I’m not able to validate PIN because I don’t receive the SMS. Any idea what can be done?CC @getready
Switch to ‘hybrid’ mode and try calling any random number or 123. Your inbox will start receiving all the pending sms but only till the call is active. So if you don’t get the sms in first call, redial. #Jugaad

Try googling for configuration. Also, check the same on amazon and flipkart’s review pages. Many people upload what config worked for them. Good luck. I don’t have a router so my help is limited in this regard.

Even I am from Bangalore. My last hope was Janta bazzar BSNL office (Near Majestic) as someone in CSC told they might have few remaining sims there. But when I called them the guy who answered the phone told they sold some 25 sims yesterday and they have none left. If you go to the exchange again please do ask if they have any sim available. I’ll go there ad buy it.

Just called exchange office and they conformed that it would most likely be fazed out from new fiscal year. So enjoy truly unlimited downloads till one and half months. And then be ready to be pushed around by private service providers.

For some unknown reason BSNL pulls down good services within short notice period. They don’t even inform about this till the last moment and if asked they will show the notice in some corner of their website.

They have been in loss for years and the government was even suggested to close down the whole BSNL company. But I think they are trying to cut cost and shut down loss making schemes to put BSNL in green zone. And as per recent news they have managed to do that. Kudos to Modi gov for that. But shouldn’t close down their EVDO service completely. They have the infrastructure in place so all they need to do it is maintenance and market it. Even the BSNL officials I talked to said that EVDO/CDMA has been neglected by BSNL for a long time. So how is it supposed to make money?
And EVDO has been around for a long time, I have been using it for atleast 4 years now.

I know people using it from 6 years and vouching for it. More than marketing or infrastructure it has something to do with the airwaves/spectrum I was told. Telcos (especially BSNL) have been asked to give up unused/lightly used spectrum so that they can be put for auction again (read privatization).
I feel reliance EVDO is also good but costlier than bsnl. I got speeds in the range of 1.5-2.5mbps (tested only for 2 days with one day unlimited pack)

When I tested Reliance EVDO in MH I got around 500kbps only, At my current place doesn’t have Reliance CDMA.
Edit: Applied for Railwire about a month back but no one has contacted me yet. So all my hopes are on Jio 4G with limited data.
Evdo shold not be stopped like this when it started gaining momentum
Dont hope jio to be cheap or run in losses. With the gov. Having pro industrialist inclination they
are here for serious money minting.

had recharged with daily pack and now feel so content in using it. never had so much satisfaction since Bsnl stopped night unlimited plans.
too bad missed this kind of internet for yrs even when I was desperate for something better than Bsnl useless 512kbps dataone. should have started using it yrs ago.
