Dear Admin, I would request you to make a [sticky] Chat Thread in Dost and Dimes section. This will make the place more interactive and friendlier. It is not sensible to create a new thread just to say hi/hello and it is a REAL PAIN chatting with someone through the PM box. Let me know what you feel in this regard.

That thread was created in wrong forum (store reviews) and hence deleted.

As you must be knowing, many users are unintentionally creating threads in that section (Store Reviews) — due to some bug/feature on the app, I presume. But that is no reason to simply delete a thread! It should have been simply moved to the correct section with a suggestion (or warning as you guys like to call it) to be careful next time around.

Anyway, can the thread be restored now?

Based on the thread URL, it seems like a deal about BigBasket. @anilpursnani222 Please provide details. CC "@CrazyTroll ":https://www.desidime.com/users/...34

Don’t be disheartened, bro. As you can see from the above discussion between @Nigel and I, there is some bug/feature on the DD app which is causing many threads from being created in the “Store Reviews” section unintentionally. And the admins are facing some technical limitation to move the threads from that section so they are deleting them in order to keep the forum organized (wrong approach — but they are doing their best to work with what they have).

Can you please recreate the thread in the Hot Deals section? I am curious to know what the deal was about since it’s about BigBasket — my favorite grocery service.

there were hushed rumours that admin was giving Moderation duties against token gifts (a week long return trip to Kashmir or Lakshadweep, Sikkim, Dudhwa Tiger Reserve and such places). not sure if it is much of a ‘trick’ but you could have tried gifting him some holiday

but all is not lost, i also heard that these same people later recover their investment by small edit jobs against gifts like a Delsey, Lacie, Montblanc etcetera.

that is that !

https://www.desidime.com/forums/dost-and-dimes/t...
there is no way to query the text/s from any of the posts of @saymyname because, as luck would have it, any search yields results for this other gal/guy https://www.desidime.com/users/...76

[ yes i tried to locate posts of saymyname in which he mentioned me https://www.desidime.com/searches...ck . I failed]

similarly, if we query this topic with ‘Cryptic Tag’ to retrieve comments from this thread, it fails too.

searching via https://www.desidime.com/...ch for https://www.desidime.com/searches/crypt...ag based on user ‘saymyname’ too would not yield anything.

edit; just received a message from saymyname (asli) that he ordered a hit job on me, via @DealSeeker sad for talking about him above.

somehow managed to negotiate with a Mod to at-least edit out the part that caused me the threat, but i could not afford any higher gift than this Tammy Hifligayr watch , so even this Mod only agreed to do a minor edit/ strike-through sad

what a cheapskate !

@mssajith i suppose there are few models of Philips that are portable and can operate at 110.
though its been a while since i saw the one i had, i can not recollect the model (could even be discon’ed)

but their steamers and irons (GCxxx/nn) do sell locally and in U.S. too

and further to the chat ping, I think even some of the other brands that Madura Coats/ Madura Garments is franchising for are worth a dekko, Van Heusen , though I live by Louis Philippe (if made by Birla’s who as i said have 100% vertical integration)

LP Perma press is good but in the India ‘dhulai’/ laundry system, it would have limited life (mine still are okay after 7+ years which i still use).
but those are hand washed and sparingly used. I find their Linen line and Perma white full sleeves worth it.

not savvy about trendin.com or abof.com cash-backs and promo’s , but if you have time at hand if a Central or some mall is having those sales (based on number of items: discount increases) then at 1500-1800, a good 100% cotton shirt is worth every paise.

The India franchise of M & S, Jack n Jones and Arrow Sports (Arrow is different than Arrow Sports) are just leeching on the brand name and paying the fixed percent to counterparty (Brands who are/ were not allowed to own properties or do retailing on their own)

so much so that both J&J Boxers and Arrow Shorts (mostly Kasliwals/ Skumars) ame across repulsively mediocre quality to me.

P.S.: just avoid viscose blends even if they are from Reliance/ Raymonds or Century (LP, VH), because inherently that yarn has a tendency to pilling if not carefully handled and if its machine washed or washed with dhobi-pachaad style (mostly you will be popping a coin in the basement of the laundromat in a jumbo front loading tumbler so it would hit delicates.

Have a fruitful stay there and wishes for proper planning and journey smile

@stranger333 Yes, Thyrocare is reliable. See my detailed review here: https://www.desidime.com/forums/hot-deals-online...

As for deals, I remember seeing one on Nearbuy. But I am sure many other deal sites/apps like Little would also have some deal for Thyrocare.

@stranger333 would second what DealSeeker said, but in the light of the rather loose statement from the Healthspring person,

just check if it is related to some franchise or sening of samples back to main lab ?
Fundamentally basic tests are half dependent on automated techinques and other half is how the technician or doctor interprets what the machines roll out as output.

In Western India and even in parts of Central India, some partners of Thyro physically move the sample to Airoli/New Bombay (surprising and triple confirmed fact).

now if in such a case there is any lapse in timings or temperatures or anti coagulant then of-course results are worth nothing.

sorry no idea about smart on-line shopping for these comprehensive tests, but found that Lal’s Path Lab network (self + franchise) is extensive too and reliable.

personally, I find the cheapskate method of hobnobbing around special events organised by say Rotary, Red Cross or some Hospital’s promotional co-branded event or even communal (xyz samaj organising subsidised check-ups) check-up drives as cost and performance effective.

The same thing happened with the 25% and 30% codes that I sent to him. Seems like the Domino’s codes we receive are valid only on the same date or on the same day of the week in the future.

@VaibhavJain One suggestion: Instead of buying the expensive Pizza varieties and then trying to bring down the costs by applying coupons, buy their veg doubles pizza combos with the “Fresh Pan” variant. It will cost 15-20 bucks more per pizza. In the end, for about 400 bucks, you will get 4 personal pan pizzas that taste very much like their cheese burst pizza varieties which cost more than twice as much after coupon discounts. Try it. #ProTip

Remember to select (or ask for) the “Fresh Pan” crust.

did the code i sent (and I thought would work) too came a dud !

If you had to know what tastes ‘bad’ then you had to try their ‘deep-dish’ variant that they were forced to convert to ‘pan’ base (pan-pizza) when pizzahut lovers just got on their nerves.

DS, are you talking of some of their basic (veg) pizzas ? I once had some small one and remember it was like 70-80 (or at max 90) bucks at some mall outlet (I was with a group and had paid for half the total order so can not recollect the exact amount)
at the end all these foreign brands with a ‘we invest the least’ and get the cream; franchise model have had to launch things as per the Indian temperament.
if my memory serves me right then, even PizzaHut tried to expand customer base by launching some medium size variants (maybe not PAN) at under 200Rs (excluding taxes)

@Troll wrote: i’M Bored no Stock Market open either

@Troll boredom might lessen if you dabble in stocks like http://www.google.com/search?q=vam+or...cs or any of these johnnies who take up big franchisees (like Dunkin’ Donuts , KFC, McD, Taco Bell)

although one has to be careful, many of the beverages businesses haven’t done well in India. (and I am not even talking about CCD or Ghata Starbucks). if you study how many times Barista changed hands in past few years in India (sometimes now even at much profit to the seller) you’d realise this (fast foods business) is a bet that can go wrong.

Luckily with Jubilant I was happy to have been proved right. especially against https://www.google.co.in/search?q=ramesh+damani... , whom i later tell that i thought differently. (during the IPO, he had famously said it live on TV: Buy the pizza, not the stock). (I didn’t buy the stock but family still holds the physical shares they sent to us as shareholders of Vam Organics.

Yum! Brands yaha listed nahi hai otherwise do note that KFC dabaa kar kama raha hai. Taco Bells too has good growth overall.
[may be your broker allows you to take exposure to foreign MF or equities, do try if they have the feature to invest outside India.]

Both Domino’s and Pizza Hut have their personal pan-sized, low-cost Pizza options. Domino’s calls them “Pizza Mania”: http://www.dominos.co.in/menu/pizza-mania-...os. Pizza Hut calls them “Magic Pan”: http://www.dominos.co.in/menu/pizza-mania-...os. You can order 1-3 of these low-cost pizzas (available only for takeaway/eat-in) or purchase the cost-effective combo of 4-pizzas (available for delivery as well as takeaway/eat-in). As usual, these pizzas are cheaper at Pizza Hut because their prices include VAT, unlike Domino’s which charges VAT on top of the listed prices.

I often buy these combos in bulk for parties and charity, making sure to pay a little extra for the “Fresh Pan” crust at Domino’s so as to not compromise on the taste.
