Paying extra for lpg cylinder delivery guys

At my place these guys ask about 20 extra, since they have to climb stairs to deliver, it seemed ok and i was just paying it.
Recently i visited my friend's place, here these guys are demanding 40 . Also it's not like they have to climb stairs or anything, his house is on ground floor and it's a small town not any posh locality. When my friend offered 20 he refused to take and Delivery guy was also saying 20 for driver and 20 for himself and total is 40 and said everyone is paying it.... This looked too much to me..
my friend want to avoid any further argument and just paid it...
is it common and just go with it?
or Any idea if anything can be done here ?
Bro ours is a well populated town and we are paying 20 extra for decades. The LPG provider was HP. Recently one guy demanded 40 Rs mentioning that they have to come inside the house and deliver it on our doorstep. I said we usually pay 20 for which he replied for 20rs I have to go the road and take the cylinder by myself. For 40 it will be doorstep delivery. But we have to pay 20 extra no matter what 🥲
Looks like many people, after paying 50-75% total tax on their income & expenses and getting hardly anything in return, are okay with accepting this kinda extortion, out of humanity LOL.
Pay for garbage pickup, cylinder delivery, getting things done by bribery & so much more out of your pocket, after officially paying for those services already.
No wonder the standard of life is so low here.
Recently I have puchase a table and negotiated hard with the shopkeeper, he hardly reduced 300 and said we are delivering it for free so cannot reduce it further.
I was like okay. I had purchased it.
But the the next day when delivery guy came to deliver the table, he was asking kharcha pani. I asked him if the delivery fee is already included in the table price?
He smiled cheekily.
Later paid him Rs. 50, seeing his humble attitude, thinking disc. is 250 not 300.
Tip is not bad but the expectation is, which keeps growing and later becomes right. Similar to case where people grabbed the land for temporary shelter and after few years they act like it is their own land.
Our is online booked and the office van delivers the cylinder. No extra charges.

For Indane they will send the link to provide feedback after delivery. In that we can mention extra charges asked, checked for leakages etc, weight not demonstrated etc , I always give feedback as extra charges paid.
After three months they started asking the feedback number along with delivery OTP.
But I submit the feedback as soon as the refill is delivered.
These extra delivery charges are quite justifiable as they bring ur 30kg cylinder to ur door/home/kitchen by themselves on there shoulder, not like flipkart and food delivery boys where they get paid extra bonus for each delivery item which the weight of parcels are mostly between 1kg to 5kg. and those 20/30/40 rupee are not big amount as they ask only at a time of delivery, so basically once a month.
You have the power of "Complain" portal Complain on your Portal for every problem you are facing. I have Indian Connection. Once I complain due to low fuel or having delivering issue. Complain forwarded to Agency and then its the Agency problem who keeps asking me to take complain back. Even delivery guy come and let me request this. It might have issue for the first few time when don't deliver or take time. but don't close the complain, simply deal with the Agency not with the delivery guy.
Simply have a good weigh machine with you and find the weigh when they deliver. They can't cheat in any way. if you have delivering issue and keep complain.
Cylinder charges are already high when compared to pipeline as it includes are your logistics charges and your are already giving this. No need to provide anything extra on top of it. It is the responsibility to the Agency to deliver at doorstep if it is within agency limit (6-8km not sure). You are already providing already charges included
After few days, similar thread will be created - Petrol bunk staff demanding tip for Air filling car & Bikes.
No negative thoughts on Delivery guys - but the way they behave and their demand makes me feel uncomfortable.
A good person bad habits will lead others in greedy ways to earn money.
Never heard anyone asking money on petrol pumps as such, but usually people give 5-10 rupees by themselves.

I know that this is a common practice since forever, and all you can do is keep complaining to the next level. People don't know that the cylinder price that they're paying already covers the delivery charges. I can understand if you live on 3rd floor or above and decide to tip the guy on your own will, that's completely okay. But they just cannot ask for it.
My family too have been a victim and I literally made them refund the money for the entire area that I used to live in. Now in my new home, I've never even asked them to carry it in in the last 6 years. I just do it myself, though I understand that it isn't a viable option for everyone.
Another option is to get the composite cylinder with 10kg of LPG and total weight of 17.5kg. It is less than half in weight than the traditional ~30kg cylinders. The application process is a little messed up and you'll lose the ₹16 subsidy too, but it might work for a few people.
Those who are advocating to give them money why only give 20-40 give 2000-4000 in every tip and eradicate their poverty
If asking 100 is wrong then asking 20 is also wrong always tell them to provide receipt of that extra amount wth signature and collect these slips
and I agree with your point that people should give their 1 month salary at least as tip to these vendors instead of telling everyone to give 40-50 rs tip.
People who are being generous and advocating this type of attitude of salaried worker, will act differently when problem will become big.
Same people will complain about Govt. employee when they ask bribe to do some work for which they are already getting paid.
Tip can be something, which we can give as a token of encouragement from our own will/generosity but they should not act like it is their right. This promotes Vasooli bhai mindset, later these people gather more confidence to extort more and more money and when they accumuate enough money (from lower middle class people), they become powerful and play with law and order. Now one cannot even complain against them.
And when such criminals increase in society, same people will blame Govt. who are just ignoring such attitude citing small amount.
There is very fine line between helping willingly and compulsively.
People shout corruption corruption ,and here some dimers are favouring and saying hard working guys pay them extra . What mentality .
Never pay a penny extra besides the billed amount , complaint directly to the Gas Company , they themselves will contact the agency and do the needful . Even if its on Fourth floor they will have to deliver it without any charges unless mentioned by gas company . In mumbai in our society 4th floor residence get cylinders without paying anything extra .
I think I have a tech savvy delivery man. I always book online but still he takes 30 Rs through Phonepe
We get our cylinder delivered on first floor (without lift) and tell the delivery person to put it in kitchen
In the kitchen first he measures and shows us the weight of the cylinder and then he connects the new cylinder to our hob to check for any problem or leakage with the new cylinder
After that he picks up the empty cylinder from the kitchen and places new cylinder in its place.
Have Never paid anything extra other than the bill amount. ( Except sometimes when he delivers near diwali time )

20 Rs is no big deal , consider it as social as social service ... helping poor labor men .

In my vilalge he delivers outside of home on the road .
Other illiterate people pay almost 100rs extra, they don't even know what is the full price for booking. What ever the amount delivery boy tells people purchase for that. 100rs will go into his own pocket.
Me do online booking over ivr call and don't even give extra amount even after he demands me, now I became the enemy for him.
For me it depends.
If they ask politely, then I pay them 20-30 and if they ask as if it's their birth right then I deny them and tell that I'll complain to the gas agency if they ask again.
My society has a lift facility so it's easy for them to carry cylinders.
Why waste time with hard labor for a pitty amount? Give them as they requested. In my town we pay 30/- per delivery and extra amount for Dusshera fest.
