The morons are going backwards. Used to recharge for 2 day unlimited data for Rs.55 on BSNL EDVO in case of excessive data need. Now, they have block the recharge even before payment page, ’It’s not a valid BSNL recharge’. Freecharge didn’t have the plans earlier, recharged once and got Rs.50 as balance complained to freecharge but no use.

I just did today for 55 via freecharge. But Paytm is worst in CCare solution.
.
Just use Mobidick or Flopcharge till it comes back.
Does that mean freecharge has included the plans? Mobikwik too didn’t had the plans last time I checked. The only other service which had the plan was rechargeitnow.
Which datacard you use with the evdo sim card??
I have the BSNL Teracom dongle(white one) but I use ZTE AC2766. I also had Sierra 598u but sold that one. Other good option is Micromax MMX 300C/310C. Look for a used one from ebay, you should get one under 600.
P.S. Don’t be rude to others if he/she is trying to help.
I was offered Teracom dongle by the BSNL exchange guys in Bangalore for 1000 rs but I aint sure about the download speeds so skipped it
What are the upload/download speeds for Bsnl dongle?
It doesn’t really depend upon the dongle. Both Zte and Teracom delivers the same. But the Teracom’s software is really terrible. Heats like hell. My sim card is bent kind of in a semi cylindrical fashion. And if you open it up you will find that it actually Chinatel modem rebranded as Teracom because that is how Gov tenders go. The Teracom’s CEO/investor might be a close relative of some top BSNL official and hence grabbed the tender, ordered the modems with their own brand name printed on outside and then imported and supplied them. Thing is they don’t do the same with internal hardware I have seen inside their exchange. Every equipment is provided by ZTE. But since who bothers with BSNL customers they are selling shit to us.
At a place they were selling the same old ZTE AC8700 which is outdated and out commissioned. I wrote a letter to the head office Lucknow and got all the modems sent back and replaced with new REV A. Prithivi modems. That’s how much less F**k they give about their customers.
What…You made BSNL guys change their all equipment…Hats off…How did u do it? Can we do it in our area?

I mentioned just the modems but yeah I did made them change their aging equipments too. Around Feb-Mar they had 20 days downtime and since I am a prepaid customer I lost almost whole month’s data. I went to the exchange and tried to get my money back but they didn’t listen so wrote a letter to DOT. They called me and explained that BSNL doesn’t have a refund policy so they can’t refund me money but that led them to change them the aging equipments and since then I haven’t faced downtime for even a single day (touchwood).
For the modems just a formal letter to the Headoffice did the job.

ZTE AC2746 doesn’t has RUIM slot and hence doesn’t support BSNL EVDO so it’s more likely a typo.

Thanks for the detailed Info
Same situation here in Bangalore, most of the exchange guys doesn’t even know whats a EVDO sim is.
And they haven’t even asked my location too when I asked for new EVDO connection
Atleast they informed me not to take ZTE AC8700 because of its slow speed.

I have no idea about demo. If they have started any service as such then they can’t deny you unless they specify on certain ground.
Can someone enlighten me about Railtel?
About its connection, speed, how to apply, and some other normal FAQ?
And any Railtel user at present or past?
Do share ur experience abt it.
Regards.
@thrifty_indian Hi
Received my AC2766 and I activated 55 plan. I am getting around 60-100kb/sec download speed. Is it normal or less?
EVDO signal varies between 3-4 bars
Also is there any difference in speed during day hours n night time?

I believe it was around Rs 2k ( or was it Rs 4k? ) for the initial charges which included a TP-Link WiFI router, installation charges and 1st month rental ,all of it refundable other than installation charges if I remember correctly. Speeds are along expected lines .Pings around 50ms. Downtimes similar to BSNL less than 2%. After all its just leasing bandwidth from BSNL!

Yes it’s normal given your signal strength. At night after 2-3 AM to 8 AM you should get 250+ KBPS. IF you have CRC port you can opt for an antenna. Ask the BSNL ‘exchange guys/technitians’ if they can provide one.

Guys what is max discount we can get on Rs.838 recharge right now? Need to recharge urgently.

There’s someone in trading section doing bsnl topups at 30% discount
If you are from south, you can topup and do 838 recharge from gennext portal
and D-Link DIR 510L is working superfine with AC2766
Initially it didnt work, after upgrading firmware it did
Battery backup also seems good
Range is ok, strictly confined to single room coverage
Both my mobile and this device are supporting 5GHZ band
There are lots of features, need to test them
From yesterday there is no network in my area..any one else facing same problem??

It doesn’t really depend upon the dongle. Both Zte and Teracom delivers the same. But the Teracom’s software is really terrible. Heats like hell. My sim card is bent kind of in a semi cylindrical fashion. And if you open it up you will find that it actually Chinatel modem rebranded as Teracom because that is how Gov tenders go. The Teracom’s CEO/investor might be a close relative of some top BSNL official and hence grabbed the tender, ordered the modems with their own brand name printed on outside and then imported and supplied them.
