increase in electricity consumption

Hi I am seeing increase in electricity consumption in my flat from last three months as compared to last year consumption in same months. Utilization is similar and there is no new appliance. Any suggestion on what should I check to find why consumption has increased ? Last year consumption was around 140 to 160 units. This year it is 220 units during same months

I hope you don't have IOT connected net metering system installed.

They are considered vulnerable to malpractices of supplying company.

Other than that defective neutral line/MCBs and unserviced electric appliances like AC, geyser , malfunctioning Refrigerator, water pump with defective capacitor are the cause of concern.

Get them checked.

Thanks for your reply. What is iot connected net metering system? I have airtel router and wifi. And electricity meter seems to be normal meter. I will try to get other things checked

Was the electricity meter replaced in the last year? For example, in Bangalore, they replaced all mechanical meters with digital ones.

Yes and they are replacing in my area too now. Forced replacement. Have to pay 7000-9000 for meter installation as well sad

Must be your new digital metre. These digital metres are a pain in the back across all north east states. There's record of many ppl recording the metre going around even when the whole house's electricity box is shut/cut off on local news
