As GNSS will probably work similar to GPS
GPS is a type (or subset) of GNSS solution. GNSS is a general name while the US Govt owns GPS.
Government introduces GNSS based Toll System

Nitin Gadkari has announced that a new toll collection system using satellite technology, called GNSS, will be tested on some national highways in India. This system will work alongside the current FASTag system. (for now i guess)
GNSS will use satellites to track vehicles and calculate tolls more accurately, which could make toll collection more efficient. The toll charge will depend on distance traveled.
My view
- Government will probably make this mandatory in future gradually phasing out traditional toll booths.
- Maybe it will integrate with fasttag in future and automatically deduct payments based on distance traveled
- As GNSS will probably work similar to GPS, government may make it mandatory for car manufacturers to equip GNSS device with new cars and maybe purchase of additional device for existing car holders.
- It will help in tracking for vehicles and absconding criminals (provided police do their job)
What are your thoughts regarding this?
Edit: ISRO has a GPS alternative called NavIC. I don't think Govt will go with GPS

I am waiting for a dashcam based road fixing system. Where users can complain for bad roads and responsible can penalized.
Gadgari promised in 2019 that if their govt comes again he will remove toll plazas. I didnt thought he mean GPS will be installed to automatically empty pockets.
And how many 10s of thousands should the vehicle owners shell out for this new scam of his? His family will own the supply of these GPS devices which should be installed in your vehicles. He will start off saying it's optional and one fine day, make it mandatory for everyone!
1) Before entering toll road are they going to check how much is in our bank account attached for this or ask to recharge?
2) in between toll road if our account has not enough balance and no toll booths as mentioned by OP, what are they going to do? Cease our vehicles or take our gold/watch/ mobile etc.
It lo
What if someone tampers or disconnects that GPS device?
i would suggest a fool proof method where first GPS shuts off & then number plate is masked by a black screen.
Bhai yeh mai 2 saal se sunta aa r
Roads sahi hoti nhi inse bas tax ke roj roj nye tarike nikal lo
One of the main reason is that the entire system is rotten and corrupted.
First of all the government (both central and state) ignores pathetic conditions of multiple roads.
Even if funds get allocated, they like to choose from cheapest options.
A huge amount of money is given as a bribe by contractors so that contractors can get the tenders.
Contractors in turn reduces the quality to the maximum extent and tries to save as much as they can
I have even seen cases where repair work is only carried out on paper.
We are not yet ready with our NavIC, all thanks to the useless ISRO's rocket scientists.
And the problem is not with the NavIC satellite. It has been built and ready for a long time. We just don't have a rocket to launch the NavIC satellite.
That's why having private space companies is very important.
Even DRDO scientists themselves have said that by this time, DRDO would have built its own rocket and launched the NavIC satellite.
I think people forget about the Scania scam where Gadkari was involved.
Scania audit confirms Nitin Gadkari received luxury bus from Swedish firm for personal use and later this news vanished from Media.
Now we must Kick Out BJP to Survive.
Has government ensured connectivity on all roads in India? They will start keeping all records our travel and may issue challan for even minor traffic violation.
how to trick the new camera based toll system
Equipping vehicles with GPS devices will be mandatory for GNSS toll collection. However, the highway authority is also exploring toll collection through number plates. If successful, this method would eliminate the need for GPS devices in vehicles, relying instead on automatic number plate recognition cameras to record entry and exit points. This initiative signifies a major technological advancement in toll collection, promising enhanced efficiency and convenience for commuters. The success of this pilot study could pave the way for a nationwide rollout, revolutionizing India’s toll collection system.
