Hello Dimers,
We have evolved from a very basic forum to where we are now… Its a interesting journey and we have learnt a lot from Dimers on what works and what does not work…
Lately we started with a major upgrade for Desidime where we are consolidating many of the features to provide the most valuable information to Dimers and visitors of the website…
We rolled out the stores and categories page in New design format where all information about a particular store (be it deal, coupon or a discussion thread) nicely tucked on one single page..
Example: https://www.desidime.com/stores/d...os
Category Example: https://www.desidime.com/categories/re...ge
We obviously rolled out Chat functionality which is still being worked on and will completely replace PM in next few months.
And now we are moving our efforts towards forums.. DesiDime forums is more than just deal sharing platform or plain vanilla forums… Its the most vibrant place on the internet where any shopaholic would love to be
I am attaching a screenshot of the future Forum thread (Or you can say deal)… Some of the key highlights would be Wiki (Currently Admin/Mod driven Wiki but would soon be more like a Community wiki so all top information is summarised which OP might have missed out on), ability to flag comments, ability to chat with dimers from same window (a better version), ability for the OP to upload images on Desidime server itself (no need to upload on imgur etc..), collapsing of quotes so its easier to read on mobile etc…
We would be bringing on many changes around how deal/coupon is submitted vs how a trade thread is started… We would be using this thread to keep posting regular updates so that way, all of us can together build a better community for the Dimers.
Comments are welcome and please restrict it to only discussion around the screenshot/features posted.
nice interface when after login, but use some dark shade for the alphabets because of so much light it effect very much to our eyes, else its nice, provide more emoticon it helpful for the human expression for react. thank you for asking for……..
Just took a closer look at the desktop UI. If I have to put it very bluntly, I felt nauseating. Are the mobile UI and the desktop UI designed by two different teams? Where is all the aesthetics of the mobile UI gone? Now I understand why everyone is so much against this new version. This is just like the shitty smileys you came up with at the time of your tie-up with some foreign company. It has completely spoiled all the wonderful experience I had with the mobile UI.
The font, the colours, the unnecessary big buttons for Reply, VU, VD etc. too ugly! Reduce their sizes and bring back the Follow Thread, Mute Thread buttons back to where they were before.
The username and avatar should go together. Where is the badge/rank of any dimer? What is the point of a badge if it’s not shown to the public? And how do we know the rank of any dimer? These are basic things which every user look out for. Also the font sizes of the stats could be a bit bigger. We have to strain a lot to read the stats of a dimer.
The tool-tip messages should be “Give Karma” and “Become A Fan” instead of “Karmas” and “Fans” respectively. The fonts of Like, Reply, Quote buttons can also be made a bit larger.
Please change the text fonts and add darker shades for boxes/borders. It’s a great strain on the eyes.
Positives: Quick Reply, Copy Post URL

Nice detailed analysis and feedback!
I agree with everything but your comment about the size of the vote and reply buttons. On my 23" 1080p screen, I don’t find the size of those buttons too disturbing. And I think bigger, eye-catching buttons do result in more user engagement and that is perhaps the rationale behind this change.
I see a lot of people criticizing smaller DPs and moving of the username from the profile area to the post area. I think the rationale behind this change was (1) to reduce the vertical size of the profile area so as to not add unnecessary scrolling for short posts of 4-5 lines and (2) to keep things consistent with quoted posts, i.e. display username right before the post.
@admin You have inadvertently broken the smiley userscripts created by @Discount Ⓜⓐⓝⓘⓐⓒ and @AloNe ForeVer. Now the big “reply” button opens a modal popup unlike a full page as earlier. Since the smiley userscripts are targeting the old reply page (e.g. http://www.desidime.com/forums/dost-and-dimes/t...), they do not work in the new reply modal popup.
While I am at it, let me quickly point out two more things:
(1) The new FPD and Dimes icons visible under user’s DP need to be replaced — they are horrible at conveying what they are. Moreover, if it were me, I would have never approved that fan icon either. I would much rather have the star in the icon (almost invisible as it exists right now) moved next to the head of the person’s icon.
(2) What’s with the jagged edges for icons all over the site? Your designer needs to learn about anti-aliasing (vector images) especially when it comes to small icons.

I understand that it is for more user engagement but when compared to the size of the other user-engaging buttons like Like, Quote and the user stats, these look disproportionately larger. That’s what makes it ugly. It’s better to reduce the size of the Reply button in the bar that comes up while we scroll down a thread.
The present design saves unnecessary scrolling even for short posts, agreed. In that case, the avatar and stats could also be brought inside the post box. The stats could even be arranged horizontally on bigger fonts beside the username instead of its vertical arrangement now.
And yes, the icons are terrible. They convey nothing.
The comment boxes are wider than the OP box. Why not reduce the size of the former to that of the latter? Let’s not have it either too wide or too long.

Does it come up every time you login?
It keeps coming once every 10 minutes or so.
@admin We really appreciate your passion for user feedback. But this is getting overboard. Kindly check it.
