Best Health Insurance Buying Guide is here -
Majority normal health insurance don’t cover OPD based treatment. So ur fungal infection & medication for it won’t be cover in normal insurance.
However as u said u have corporate insurance, they have totally different T&C & many times cover such OPD base treatment also. So better to check ur policy T&C or ask hr regarding it.
Hi…any health insurance available for rheumatoid arthritis pre existing disease?
Need to check with company underwriting team. Each company has different rule for such pre-existing disease.
Max Bupa’s new ‘ReAssure’ health plan offers multiple claims in a year The sum assured ranges from Rs 3 lakh to Rs 1 crore depending on the need of the customers. It is available as an individual policy and also as a family floater. https://www.moneycontrol.com/news/business/econ...
Good plan launched by Max bupa to compete against Apollo (hdfchealth) Optima restore plan.
Hi sir,
Fellow Doctor & Medical Officer @ NHM here.
Kindly send the link to health insurance comparison spreadsheet.
And kindly suggest if Optima restore is the best plan for parents?
Aged 54 & 53 years,
BOTH have same PED – DM type II + HTN + grade 2 left ventricular diastolic dysfunction + BMI 36.
Sir is there any government sector insurer having in house TPA? And are the TPA’s involved in deciding SI, premium amount etc? Can you please dm the excel sheets?
TPA are not involved in deciding increase in SI, premium amount etc. It is decided by Insurance company.
TPA’s role is limited for claim settlement & related formalities, providing health card (some times).
Thanks for great thread on less known and less discussed topic. I am working in Central PSU with their own healthcare system. Still i want to take health insurance policy for
1. my family of 2 adults +one child.
2. My mother who is 58 yrs old with pre-existing medical condition as diabetes, High BP and gap between lumber disc with no hospitalisation history.
Kindly suggest me suitable policy. Thanks in advance.
@drjpatwa you’re are good soul. Thanks for this. I have read 4 pages. Will read test of the thread tomorrow.
In case if not already discussed, could you share few insights about policy porting.
Currently I have taken star comprehensive for parents which agent forced (I know my mistake) even if I insisted to read the brochures for start optima and comprehensive.
Reason for porting, I find start comprehensive costly with unnecessary add ons.
Second reason, Star only had super top up till 25 lakhs.
Would you recommend porting, holding this policy since two years.
Yes Star health premium is high with comparatively low features.
Comprehensive plan has cover for maternity & new born baby which ur parents don’t need it.
Take decision accordingly…
can you please share the comparison sheet.. thanks
I can help to make star health insurance at 12.5% discount. Pm me. For more details
Sheet link plz
Why not post it here. It will stop your headache of replying to every request.
I have question to ask. I am looking at a Max Bupa policy and agent’s price is 2K higher than their online price. Do I have any reason to go with agent or it is just good idea to buy policy online myself?
@rak007
Usually in health insurance prices for online & offline (with agent) are same. In such cases 1 should definitely go with offline for 2 reasons
1) Agent will help at the time of claim & fight against any unusual high deduction (If agent knows T&C in detail)
2) Agent might pass on part of commission to u. That will be additional saving for u.
For some plan, company might provide additional online discount for limited period of time like Max Reassure plan.
Guys any idea about Max Bupa Reassure plan? I have compared it with Max Bupa Health Companion and this seems to work out 15% cheap with more benefits for me. It is not exactly like to like but a few benefits in Reassure seem to be much better than Health Companion. I am wondering if there is any catch here, cause why will a company launch a second plan that is much cheaper and offers much better benefits than the existing one? if any one knows the difference or the catch, kindly help. Thanks
@thebraveheart
I have gone through both plan.
Reassure plan have many more features compare to companion plan. Basically they have launched this reassure plan to compete market leader product Apollo Optima restore plan.
For my city reassure plan is costlier than companion plan. U might be getting reassure plan cheaper bcoz ur city might be coming in Rest of India in reassure plan & higher tier for companion plan. Also reassure plan is currently offering 5% online discount for limited period which is not there in companion plan.
Even I noticed the difference with discrepancy in online versus agent prices, could be very useful if anyone could throw some light on it.
Depends on their biz bro it’s via some TPA it may be lesser or even the same in that case. The policy would be the same but the medium would be different that’s it. If you book via PB they will give you some additional add ons which may/may not be useful for you.
Whatever it is just check the policy name and check the same in the insurers website to be on the safer side. That’s how i basically renew my car policy via PB every year.
Any policy where all treatment requiring less than 24hours hospitalization is covered?
ercp type procedures covered?
Sent link to all who requested.
I am out of town. Will answer all queries once I return back.
@jambui almost all health policies cover less than 24 hours hospitalisation procedure. Look for the feature- Day Care in the policy

I have 3L family floater medical policy from dbs- royal sundaram & 20L topup from manipal cigna. & 5L in patient hospitalisation policy from religare.
I am 33 yr old and my wife 27, and daughter age is 3 yrs. Is this the right policy for us?
And please share the spreadsheet to compare.
Thanks.
Why u have taken 3 different company’s policy?
Royal Sundaram & religare both are base policy?
Pm me the link of google sheet bro
@drjpatwa Hi, I wanted to take a health insurance for my family. My family includes my father, mother, myself, my wife & my brother. Which is the best policy to cover the entire family? My father age is 67 & my mother age is more than 60.
Many private company have poor T&C of co-pay when policy is purchased after 60 age. So u have limited option. Also If any diseases are there, be ready to pay loading (extra premium) or rejection of policy too for ur parents.
Sending you pm of sheet for comparison of different plan. Check it.
Take a look at Bajaj Allianz Extra Care Plus super top up insurance. Looks decent, with good coverage and sane restrictions.
I am getting 20L for 900 from Cigna for family 2+2 … Is it worth?
Best critical illness policy
