I am skipping class 3. Going to free youtube school. But I can see nice sites selling old books like "Maths Ace For Cbse Class 3 By Pearson By Hira Pras.. " for less than Rs. 50 on typing Pearson in search. I have tested that site once and its genuine. Got 1KG+ books for ~Rs. 70 (including courier). But not going to abuse it so never bought again as I dont like studying
Let me know website in DM... need to donate kids old books.
for my daughter I took 6th CBSE seniors books. and insisted on paying also 50% amount. But senior kid did not take. We also offered my daughter books but none came forward looking for it. Not even RTE kids seek used books.
There were 2 books short which I ordered online. in 1 book 1 chapter is missing, I told my kid take that as photocopy. Child needs to learn to mend in all situation.
Besides I told her, if your anyone ask why you are using old books, tell boldly, on one book how many trees need to cut and how much water is being wasted along with free air prolusion. And same time mention, just by preaching save water, save Earth doesn't work until we work for it together. Do ask what is wrong in reusing old books?
Thank God I was born early before textbooks got expensive 😨
No but on a serious note, I agree, basic things like these should be cheaper. Education keeps getting more and more expensive as does good quality healthcare. I wonder if India is headed for same situation as USA - a totally messed up country for private education or healthcare (screwed without insurance)
Here we bought both ncert books and private published books because school has moral responsibility 😈 towards both government and publishers. Bought only 22 registers and school diary(200) and examination pad(110) id card(150), photograph(800) also annual magazine(900) annual function fee (1200) plus 3000 for 7 stem classes in a year.
What are stem classes ?
Something introduced in new education policy ?
Didn't have these at my time
Is line me bhut scope hai
Lagta hai is line me kam chalu karna pdega ab
Now education is only a business nothing is left in education
Our education system needs serious overhauling all over india... The course is filled with old era unnecessary junk .. kids are wasting there childhood mugging up junk and finding the value of x , which they will never be using in their life....
Whole school system studies are worthless.. teaching no actual life values and how to become good human being, but instead just how to get good marks .. ( parents have there role in it) but now days kids spent majorty of there time in the school from morning 6 am to evening 4 pm .. almost 5000 days of there life they spend in school ..
Bhai me Bina mbbs kiye tmpe surgery karunga. Chalega?
Similar to TRAI in telecom
Isnt there any such regulatory authority for schools ?
If NCERT books are made more refined like RS Agarwal maths etc then NCERT itself will be enough but no motivation for government
no such regulations.. and it's a long way for ncert to catch up with private publication...
Very costly books nowadays.. 1st class books I bought for 4000
Pearsons was acquired in 2023 by LEADERSHIP BOULEVARD a edtech unicorn.
Pinnacle+ is a package offered by the edtech involving pearsons books, mobile app, test module etc.
Create a WhatsApp group with all parents. Ask them to let you create xerox copies of full book that will cost you around @ 0.40 per pg. ...in mass nos. and distribute . I myself had done in college . The Original books cost 2600 per book whereas xerox cost 300 including spiral binding.
Yes, it should not matter if they are serious about education not money..
It's not about price also but in return what you will get ...
School and college can't bring out the natural potential of a person also then what's the use of that study ... I know lot of street children who r much wiser then school children ....
Look for alternatives school
Got a question
Can the books be Xeroxed and brought to school. I know in Kolkata we can have xerox @₹0.45per side (so one page ₹0.9)
But yeah it will be black and white.. don't recall the charges for coloured pages.
Yes.. this option goes long back .. but it works for higher class and college students, here we are talking about a grade 3 of a school , child would feel left out , and can't say about the continuous taunting of teachers and fellow classmates ...
It's an investment on the child, I wonder if it's worth it!
It should better be worth it, as someone mentioned here that all these expensive books set are based upon ncert books itself with some little modifications... Those ncert books for all subjects comes under 1000 as compared to these 6000, 7000, commission based books ..
There should be our Gurukul based Education system...Vedic Maths, Skill learning, Sanskrit, Creativity.
Our ancient Indians were so much intelligent .
There are very few Gurukul in India. I have to send my kid to Gurukul once he is 10 year old.
Any advice?
Which language?
Sanskrit, Hindi, Gujarati and south indian language options available.
Got charged ~4500 for class-1 book provided by school itself (each book contains 30-50pages and costing around 300each ) and copies with school logo on cover costed 45each (total 17copie) .
I think all private schools (except DAV) looting like this. Sadly, there's no regulation of these looters.
5500 for books for 3rd class.with a kids photo on school bag yayyy what a useful feature of school
These are the legal way to pass tax burden to students to secure their profitability.
I feel Railway & education these are only two field where government should be present
Hospitals also bro
The school has good infrastructure (grounds , AC, security guards , cameras, labs) ?
Schools , that should have been the best places in India for studies..are becoming the WORST kind of places you can ever find in our country ..just because of their greed..laar tapakti hai logon ke paise dekh kar school walon ki..unse koi pucho toh sahi..ki ye saara Paisa Jaa Kahan Raha hai??? Coz jitna main jaanta hu.. teachers ki salary kuch khaas badhi nahi hai..toh paise Kahan Jaa rahe phir
Not surprising...my daughter is in 6th standard and our books are 10k plus. In addition, there are some books that are mandatory purchase but not opened. It's a clear business.
The schools are not employing marketing and strategy experts to increase their profits. And this is the result of that. New publications (based on who give more percentage, not enough importance given to content writers for those publications.). Every year some chapters rearranged to ensure buying of books happens every year, no hand me downs whatsoever. Picnics are organised and charges for one kid are enough for the full family to travel. My son's school organised a trip from Mumbai to amritsar in a 3/4 star hotel with full air fare charges (no discounts though tickets booked 3 months in advance), 4-5 boys in each room. Bus travel from chandigardh to amritsar by bus to reduce airfare from mumbai to amirtsar...lunch given in bus, frooti and chips, then they reach 3 star under construction hotel, some kids go to floors where doors open to nothing!! there s just open air to fall down!!..On landing back in mumbai, 70% kids fall sick with food poisoning, some are carted to hospital directly from airport. Parents take morcha to school. principal doesn't even come to meet. Take appointment and come. Then princi arranges meeting with tour coordinator, all responsibility on the tour organiser. No ACTION taken on anyone. Thank god, due to past experience I didnt send my kid. The said school is one of the top schools in Mumbai.
Sports: You have to enroll in sports...each sport cost approx Rs 2000 per month, just to play. If you do not enroll, you will not be selected to represent the school even if you are the best...the same trainers train outside the school for Rs 500 per 3 months.
School tieups with uniform and shoe and bag manufacturers is old hat. Obviously every 2 years uniform changes.
Govt is getting their money so they rather not say anything. Ok, after all this...the teachers are not doing anything extra...there s nothing exceptional. AC classrooms yes and obviously we were charged full fees even during lockdown. With full power consumption. This is how a tax payer is treated. Organised loot.
So .. Terrible ... Harsh reality of education mafias...
Scam 2024. My son's school in Mumbai does not disclose books cost, incl in fees but fees for class 1 is 1.3 lacs. Normal icse school
Ias ips scientist doctor ye sab chodhkar baaki ke sab kuch banenge
