This is my opinion.

If one wants the the cool factor, go with iMacs.

If one wants ergonomics and hasslefree ownership experience, go with sony.

If one wants an affordable and dependable machine, go with Asus. Keep in mind that their customer services differs region by region and is quite pathetic in some areas of the world including in India.

If one wants a rugged workhorse, go with Panasonic or high end toshiba or Fujitsu machines.

If one wants a great deal of headache, go with HP-Compaq, Gateway, MSI, Dell.

Having said that, I have been a vaio user for last 10 years and more I have also used Dell, Fujitsu, Panasonic, Compaq, HP, Asus, Gateway, Lenovo and IBM. Personally I would pick a high end Vaio any day.

No doubt ASUS is the best but now, instead of debating and giving our personal opinion [we can start a new thread in the ‘Dost and Dimes’ section for this (Even I love to debate over such topics ) ], we should help ‘lknaik’ decide which laptop should he go in for…

I myself had no idea that ASUS has so many fans.

I will also like to ask people What about after sale service. I think this play a major role in descion making.

Dell and HP after sale service is good. Mac is good but you have to pay the price. Qosmio is a Hulk of a machine.
