Received my Canon Connect Station today.
Received mine today. Updated New Firmware and works flawlessly with my smart phone on WiFi. Transferred my backup photos from my phone to this device. Transfer Speed was also good. Worth buy @999, at least as a back up device upto 1tb…
Does it detect any removable device? U able to Copy locally?

Conect both cs100 and mobile(or laptop) to same wifi network ( 1st time to connect cs100 to wifi u need display to display menu of cs100)….after it gets connected…..there will be http address displayed in cs100 menu(like some 192.168.0.101 located in lower right hand corner of screen, type that in browser of mobile u r connected- so only possible if u hav TV to display the menu of CS100)….or u can download canon station cs100 app from playstore on mobile, connect both cs100 and mobile to same wifi network- open app on phone, u ll see cs100 available to connect, click on it, start uploading pics and videos.
dismantle the hdd n transfer the data and then assemble it 
dismantling is pretty easy

if you are using mobile hotspot then transfer speed will be low

Post updating firmware I am not able to hear video voice? Is there any settings in firmware
How did u update the firmware???
Firmware is not updating through ‘Update Firmware’ menu option. Nothing happens after clicking ‘Set’ on this menu option. 
I’ll strongly recommend others to not to waste time on this hardware.
after seeing it’s user manual online i became sure its a useless hardware.
i didn’t even power on this box once.
as soon i unpacked, i disassembled it.
the processor confirmed my anticipations.
it’s totally proprietary.
though the wifi & nfc modules can be separated neatly, they are not usable because of lack of any documentation.
i am going to use reuse it’s hdd, fan, aluminium sink, remote+ batteries, power adapter, plastic casing to keep the orange pi.
and will practice smd desoldering on its main board.

Friends I suggest hard disc can be used anytime, why hurry with that. Let’s try to find out ways and apps to use this device more effectively before giving up and extracting out the hdd.
The concept of the product is good, so its worth giving a try to see if there’s a tweak

this is what you get when connected into USB Casing. There’s no Drive Letter assigned in it. You can’t use this until you entirely delete the partitions and create new one and format. So if anyone like me trying to take out the HDD from the device and use it on laptop/desktop or as portable media, they can use it after re-partition & re-formatting. Eventually if anyone wants to use any low storage HDD in the device, I’m not sure yet if it will automatically partition the HDD by itself or we have to do manually. Likewise I though of taking out the 1TB and use as portable media, and wanted to put a 500GB into the device instead. Now got kinda stuck what if that 500GB doesn’t get supported due to different file-system or partition…
even I could not compare the Speed test of this 1TB HDD with my existing 500GB HDD due to different partition format…
dose anyone converted it into hard drive
those facing problem due to partition and partition types, should take help of any Linux user.
cs100 has a Linux based os.
all partitions are Linux partitions, total 8 partitions.
all partitions need to be deleted and new partitions need to be created.
format the new partitions in ntfs format (using Linux) and remove disk safely.
now insert the newly partitioned disk in a Windows system and format again with windows.
the hdd will work fine then.
No need to do the long procedure. Just take out the 1tb hdd and put in laptop. Now install any windows and while installing select custom installation. Now select the hdd and delete all the partition. Now you will gave 930gb of unallocated space. Make 200gb of C Drive. And install the os in it
it’s not a big deal end of the day, the partition table needs to be copied into another disk with the help of some partition manager and it will work for sure… will try later and update here for the same…

I have just installed WD-1tb HDD extracted from Canon CS100 in my laptop. I saw many people purchased it and after trying to find the proper use of Canon CS100 without a Canon Camera, it seemed a waste of money. So I have found a way by which you can take out that HDD from the device and install it in your computer.
1. Take out the HDD from the device by removing all 12 screws.
2. Remove the HDD from your computer/laptop and plug-in the WD HDD in the port.
3. Plug-in bootable pendrive consisting win7/win10(preferred).
4. Load up the BIOS and boot through pen drive.
5.When you’re asked what hard drive to install to, press Shift+F10 and a Command Prompt window will appear.
6. Enter the following commands:
DISKPART
LIST DISK
SELECT DISK #(Where # is the number you saw in the previous step)
CLEAN
CONVERT MBR
CREATE PARTITION PRIMARY SIZE=993000
FORMAT FS NTFS LABEL “SYSTEM” QUICK
7. Close the Command Prompt, refresh the installer window and it should show the new partition layout. Select the
partition you created to install Windows 7 or 10.
8. Now the File System of the HDD is converted to NTFS.
9. Select the drive——>Delete the partion—→Click New—→Enter drive storage {e.g. 990000MB}
10. Click Next and the system will be installed in the primary drive which you just made.

@iintoxxicated found a better way but time consuming.
Just insert the HDD to any external enclosure.

Erase the drive completely -→ this will take 2-3 hours approx
Done
Now disconnect and reconnect the drive… open disk management > disk initialization will start automatically > Select GPT > Done
Now full unallocated drive will be available in DM, just create a new volume and you are good to go.

Erasing the Drive is no way difficult job, the issue was about how to connect a low storage device into the Media…
If anyone don’t need this please give it to me . I have just bought canon DSLR tatacliq. I think this connect starion should be useful with that dslr

I am waiting for some genius to modify the canon connect app, so that this device become useful. If the app interface and options are better thia device is much more worth a bare hard disc
I would say capture an image ( clusterwise) using macrium reflect, it will save everything including the partition table. use the same tool to restore it back to the same drive or another.
