I still have no idea about how they calculate the charges but now I try to avoid tiny recharges like freecharge 20rs offer. Thanks.

I was charged above 1000rs for transaction charges via PSU bank. That was the first time I realized there are charges like that if you cross certain transaction limit in a month/year in every pvt/psu bank. So rather than getting 20bucks on 20rs recharge, I’ll skip such offers.

You’re right. There is a limit on transactions done via debit card per month for many banks for most of the savings accounts.
E.g., SBI’s general savings account has a limit of 30 free successful transactions done via debit card per month. After using 30 free transactions, there is a charge for every transaction made via debit card per month.
Including net banking?
Net banking is included in transaction calculations.
SBI is chor when it comes to hidden charges. I cancelled my SBI credit card and the rep wasn’t even bothered to ask me a reason why I’m doing it. They promised there wont be any yearly charges when you transact more than 30k and I did a lot more than that but I still saw around 1500rs for yearly charges. I cancelled it and happy with Citibank now.

I have been using SBI netbanking for quite a few transactions, but I havent noticed any charges. I also have a home loan (like a CC acct – maxgain) with them, so yes I do avg 7-8 txns per month.. it was abt 10-15 last year..
Not that I am promoting SBI.. but I will like to know how and when do they deduct these charges for you. I shouldnt have missed them, but I wont mind to verify again.

Everyone cant afford credit card or say eligible for.. Also some people dont prefer credit card for payment due to risk involved (Ofcourse a myth )

I was charged last year around April for transaction charges. All the charge name said was “trans/chrgs” and it was automatically deducted from my account.
