@Beinghuman @MJ911 can you moderate it?
Edit : Merge it with kryptonite’s post. That one is a repost.

This is a great initiative from Amazon India. I hope they start to pilot Amazon Prime to some customers.

I don’t think they would do it any sooner. They don’t want to provide prime only for free shipping without any other addons at a cost of Rs.500 (assuming it would be on par with flipkart first and which failed miserably). So they still might wait for the regulatory constraints (Including FDI norms) to clear out before they go for additional services. But I would take it just for the free shipping.

Me too. I don’t want the Prime subscription for TV, OR their monthly flash sale.
I just want it for free delivery. I feel very bad when I want to buy a product that costs around 250 or 350, and I need to pay 40 rupees for shipping.
Same goes with Bigbasket. I would think twice to pay that 20 rupees rather than shop for 1k and get a free token. I guess, its a good marketing strategy. What do you think?
Good deals.Any suggestions that worth the shipping and the price?
Especially the ones we can’t order through Grofers,BB,etc
.

I remember saving a lot on Gillette razors using the Subscribe option back in the US. But there, people subscribed just to save on a single order and then cancelled the subscription without any penalty. I wonder if Amazon would be able keep that policy in India as well.
So true, I feel bad to pay 40 shipping for those 300-400 items and I really don’t want to buy junk. Go amazon prime.

In India the S&S catalog is really not big and wouldn’t affect them much I believe. Since it is limited to groceries/household supplies people might end up buying a couple of items when there are better discounts (there are good discounts sometimes) and even they might try to get the 10% extra discount. So win-win for both.

There is no such distinction, everyone tries to do that to save some shipping and get extra 15% on 5+ items. Sometimes there will be good coupons on some items and many try to hit the 5 mark to get that extra 15%. So in the end people might end up buying stuff they don’t need.
