If you are an avid user of WhatsApp, there’s some good news for you. WhatsApp has started rolling out its much-anticipated 3D avatars feature, allowing users to create unique digital versions of themselves. Much like what we have seen in Facebook Meta. This new Whatsapp feature allows you to create a digital avatar of yourself that you can use as your Whatsapp profile picture or even as stickers while chatting with your friends and family.

How to use Whatsapp 3D avatars and everything else you need to know

The talk of Whatsapp 3D avatars launch has been in the news for quite some time now. However, it is now that the Meta company has finally begun launching Whatsapp 3D avatars for its much-awaited users. Below we have mentioned everything you need to know about Whatsapp 3D avatars, their launch, how to use them, how to create your own Whatsapp 3D avatars using Whatsapp 3D avatar creator apps, and more.

What are WhatsApp 3D Avatars?

Whatsapp 3D Avatar is a virtual avatar of yourself that resembles similar facial features, skin tone, style, etc as yours. You can use it as your Whatsapp profile picture or even as stickers while chatting.

How to use Whatsapp 3D avatars?

In the Whatsapp 3D avatar, you’d most likely have to record a video of yourself (a few seconds long) and the system would then try to sense your facial features, skin tone, style, etc using AI and create a similar-looking Whatsapp 3D avatar for you.

Else, it could also be something similar to how you create your 3D avatars on Instagram - by selecting styles of your facial features like eyes, eyebrows, etc that define you the best.

As per reports, you’d be able to customize your Whatsapp 3D avatars with different skin tones, hairstyles, and outfits allowing you to create a unique digital version of yourself. Users can also choose from a variety of poses and facial expressions to further personalize their avatars.

To create your 3D avatar on Whatsapp, follow these steps:

  • Make sure your Whatsapp is updated with the latest version

  • Open Whatsapp and visit “Settings Menu”

  • In Settings Menu, click on the option that says “Avatar”

  • Click on “Create your Avatar”

  • Create your Whatsapp 3D avatars using the AI camera

  • Customize your Avatar with new clothing styles, etc

Note: If your Whatsapp is up-to-date but you are still not able to see the option to create 3D Avatars on Whatsapp, don’t worry, the Whatsapp 3D rollout is still in progress and the Meta company itself has announced that it would make the 3D Whatsapp avatars feature available for all globally, including India.

Whatsapp Avatars Creator apps

There are some apps available wherein you can create your 3D avatars. For example, there’s Instagram, Bitmoji, Avatar Maker Online, Ready Player, etc. However, not all of these apps let you create truly 3D avatars or download them. We have tried to mention below the best 2 apps to create your 3D avatars for free. There may be more 3D avatar creator apps available but we liked these two more.

  1. Ready Player 3D Avatar Creator app

This web-based 3D avatar creator app lets you create your own 3D avatar by either uploading a picture of yours or recording a selfie if you don't want to do either of them, you can simply create your own 3D avatar by choosing different styles that best suit you. You can also download your 3D avatar in a PNG file or copy a link to your Avatar and share it on your social media including WhatsApp

How we created our avatar using a free 3D Avatar creator app

PS: I did not try to customize the avatar to best look like me. As I only wanted to create this avatar to see how it works. But, if you put in more effort, you can make a pretty similar-looking avatar to yourself (hopefully)

.

2. Avatar Maker

The next Whatsapp 3D avatar creator app that you can use is Avatar Maker online. It lets you create your avatars by customizing your look based on different styles. Though the avatar does not look 3D in any way. You can still use it and have fun creating your avatar online.

Note: You may only be able to use these avatars in a PNG format on your Whatsapp and not as a complete 3D model structure avatar representation.

Whatsapp 3D avatars in India launch

Whatsapp announced in a recent blog post that it would be launching the Whatsapp 3D avatars feature globally for users. Also, India as we know is the largest market for Whatsapp so Indian Whatsapp users can definitely expect to receive the feature on their phones soon.

Whatsapp has already started rolling out the 3D avatars feature. With that said, the launch of Whatsapp 3D avatars is still in progress.

This new Whatsapp 3D feature allows users to express themselves in a more creative and personalized way. It also adds an element of fun and interactivity to chats, making them more engaging for users. What are your thoughts on Whatsapp 3D Avatars feature? Where do you think Whatsapp is heading with it?
