Every year, millions of people set New Year's resolutions in the hopes of making a good change in their lives. While we make them with the vision to better our lives, but to tell you the truth more than half of these resolutions fail. According to Franklin Covey firm, one-third of resolutioners don’t make it past the end of January. Because they aren't the right resolutions, most of these resolutions fail. A resolution could be wrong for one of three reasons –
It’s a resolution created based on what someone else (or society) is telling you to change.
It’s too vague.
You don’t have a realistic plan for achieving your resolution.
Your resolutions should be smart – and SMART. Specific, measurable, achievable, relevant, and time-bound is an acronym developed in the journal Management Review in 1981. It may be useful for management, but it may also be useful for achieving resolutions. We don’t lack determination, we lack planning. Once you have figured it out you can make those resolutions a reality.
We have listed some conventional and non-conventional New Year resolutions for 2022 for you to pick from or not. As we said your New Year Resolution should be based on your personal gains. Let us begin with the 10 New Year resolutions for 2022.
1. Learn one thing every day
Great and Successful People are there today because they never stopped learning. Educating oneself is the best gift you can give yourself. So, start learning one thing a day, be it a recipe or how to build a website. Today we are equipped to learn freely through Books, YouTube, Google, or Even through Movies.
Learn one thing every day for the coming 365 days of 2022 and then retrospect and see how your life changes. To give you an idea, start with simple facts, grammar, human rights, animal rights, how to grow a plant, Indian Communities and whatever drives you to learn more.
2. Clear the Clutter
Clutter is literally bad for your health. Now when we say clutter, we are talking about two types of different clutter. One is the physical clutter that you surround yourself with and the other is that you hoard inside your mind. You need to clear the clutter in your mind, to create new space for things that will help you grow and achieve things procrastinate about.
Compulsive hoarding also known as hoarding disorder is a clinically recognised mental health condition. Not to alarm you with big words but we unknowingly hoard things in our houses that we are not able to let go of. People hoard because they believe that an item will be useful or valuable in the future. Or they feel it has sentimental value, is unique and irreplaceable, or is too big a bargain to throw away.
So, resolve to get help and change this for yourself during the 365 days you have been given. Take on the fridge, cabinets, cluttered drawers, desktops, and closets. Toss whatever you haven't used in six months, give what you don't want or need, and prepare to ring in the new year with renewed clarity and peace of mind.
3. Find a Passion
The quote that “We live to love” has been replaced with “We live to work”. The 9 to 7 Jobs we do have drained out our passion to do what we love. So as this new year resolution for 2022, find a passion you think you enjoy or have lost. It can be cooking, painting, writing, exploring, learning, creating or anything that brings you happiness. It doesn’t have to fit in the society box, it can be your work or your hobby or a newfound skill.
4. Get Healthy! Not Skinny!
Losing weight is the top resolution in the list of New Year Resolutions for more than decades. Because we got it all wrong from the beginning. Getting skinny is not the answer to getting healthy! We all have different bodies and skin, so our version of health is different as well. There is a growing movement that embraces all shapes, sizes, Colors, strengths, abilities (and disabilities!).
To start your New Year Resolutions for 2022, start with a health check-up. Target the issues you want to overcome. Start exercising, plan a workout and stay determined. Also Create a skincare routine for yourself, no matter your gender. We all love glowing skin and a healthy body. Train your mind to stay Body Positive!
5. Keep in Touch
You might have heard a thousand times that you need to be disconnected to achieve peace. Disconnect from social media and from People who don’t serve you. While that may be true, the year 2019 -2020 has taught us that communication can heal everything.
So don’t lose touch with your friends and family. Normalize texting first or talking first because the intentions are more important. Communicate with your partner to have a happy married life, communicate with your parents to aid them as it’s their turn to be pampered and last of all keep in touch with your friends.
6. Start with “One line a Day”
Why not make 2022 the year you finally do it if you've always wanted to keep a consistent diary, whether it's about your day or to record your daily gratitude? A five-year version, such as this One Line a Day diary, helps you to get into the habit of writing by jotting down a few thoughts throughout the day in short bursts. You might be amazed at how useful this simple practice is for capturing memories, expressing feelings, and finding happiness.
7. Save for the Good Days
Save for a rainy day, is something we are told over and over again. Still, we resolve to save more and then fail at it badly. So how can we change it? We need to change our approach to save money. Save money for the good days. So, when you are on a trip abroad you can shop without any worry, save for good days so that you spend knowing you will gain something as well.
Yes, you caught us right, investment is the answer to us making this resolution for 2022 a reality. Mutual Funds, CryptoCurrency, Shares, Coupons, Offers, etc are all a way to save. The money you save in your account is not doing you any good, so start learning about saving and investment for your new year resolution for 2022
8. Find your Therapy
When we say find a therapy for yourself, it doesn’t need to be a four-walled office with two chairs and a notebook. Some people find cleaning therapeutic; some find the same with cooking, painting, yoga, working out, playing with animals, etc.
Find what activity makes you content with yourself and practice it without any guilt. Prioritize yourself happiness this coming year as one of your new year resolutions. Also, Retail Therapy is one activity that is the most satisfying if you can save while doing it.
9. Give up a Habit
We, humans, are creatures of Habit. While some habits are doing us well many are harming us in ways we didn’t consider. For this New Year Resolution, give up any habit that you consider is doing you harm and stay determined to get rid of it.
10 Prioritize your Mental Health
Mental Health has been a hushed topic in our society. While we make the society and we are a part of it, we have equally contributed to neglecting it. This year start making changes in your life for real, prioritize your mental health above anything else. Create awareness about it when you don’t feel okay. It is completely okay to unwind and find stillness when you feel chaotic.
Practice positivity and manifestation in your life. Repeat after us: "Today is my day. I'm thankful for myself." Positive self-talk can help you focus on what's good in your life, says psychologist Joy Harden Bradford, PhD. Next time you have trouble nodding off from the stress, Take a hot bath or have some ice cream or whatever you need to feel better.
