Earlier - Vistara was confident about comfortably completing its merger with Air India within the nine-month timeline set by the National Company Law Tribunal (NCLT), according to CEO Vinod Kannan. On June 6th this year, the NCLT approved the merger and set a nine-month deadline for Vistara's dissolution. Vistara's flying permit from the Director General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) was valid until December 2024.
Now - Starting September 3, passengers won't be able to book Vistara tickets for travel on or after November 12.

Vistara Airlines to Merge with Air India from 12 November 2024!
Vistara will officially merge with Air India on November 12, 2024. Starting that day, Vistara flights will operate under the Air India brand, using the “AI” flight code instead of “UK” (International Air Transport Association IATA Code for Vistara). Passengers who booked Vistara flight tickets will now manage their bookings on the Air India website automatically. From September 3, passengers won’t be able to book Vistara flights for travel on or after November 12. However, Vistara will continue to accept bookings and operate flights as usual until 11 November 2024.

This merger was announced by Vistara and Air India shortly after Singapore Airlines received government approval for its proposed investment in Air India. Singapore Airlines stated that “This approval, combined with the other government and regulatory approvals we've received so far, represents a major step forward in finalizing the merger."

If you’ve booked a Vistara flight after November 12th, your reservation will automatically be updated to an Air India flight. This transition will occur slowly throughout September, and you’ll receive a personal notification with your new flight details.
