The Indian Government's Cyber Authority advises that you update your Google Chrome browser right away!
On December 14, CERT.in issued a warning to Chrome users about five security flaws that attackers might already be exploiting in the wild.—Emergency Security Details Below
Another security update for Chrome's 2.6 billion users has been verified by Google, and this one is an emergency repair due to a zero-day vulnerability that hackers are already exploiting. Chrome version 96.0.4664.110 patches a total of five vulnerabilities, four of which are high-rated and one of which is critical. One of the four high-rated flaws allows attackers to target Chrome's JavaScript engine and run code on a target computer.
Individuals who use the Google Chrome browser have been issued a 'high severity warning by the Indian Computer Emergency Response Team (CERT-In), a part of the IT ministry. The attack could allow access to the compromised system's personal data. Furthermore, hackers can use this method to inject malware onto the system, allowing it to be further hacked.
Users running Android 9, Android 10, Android 11, and Android 12 as well as Windows and Linux users using Chrome are all subject to the high severity alert. There isn't much more to say about the technical intricacies of this ‘reserved' vulnerability at the moment. This isn't unusual, since Google usually withholds such information until the bulk of customers have had a chance to install the security update.
