Sony PS5 at ₹13,000 Discount via Summer Promo Offer

Sony has unveiled an enticing limited-time promotional offer for select older models of the PlayStation 5 in India. Dubbed the "Summer Promo," this offer extends to the standard PS5 variant, presenting gamers with an opportunity to enjoy discounts of up to Rs. 13,000 on the console. Timed alongside the recent launch of the slimmer version of the PS5 in India, this promotion is slated to commence on April 10th.

The discounted standard PS5, which originally debuted in India back in February 2021, currently retails at Rs. 54,990 for the disc edition. However, with the "Summer Promo" in effect, consumers can now avail themselves of significant savings on the model with the specific serial number CFI -1208A01R. The offer period is set to run from April 10th until April 30th, or until stocks of the designated console model are depleted.

Sony India has confirmed that the discount will be applied variably across eligible products, including disc edition PS5 bundles. This offer will be accessible through various retail channels, including Amazon, Blinkit, Croma, Flipkart, Reliance, Sony Centre, Vijay Sales, and other participating outlets.

It's important to note that this promotional discount will not extend to the Digital Edition of the older console version or the newly introduced PS5 slim variant

Speaking of which, the PS5 slim, characterized by its sleeker and lighter design compared to the standard model, entered the Indian market last week. Priced at Rs. 54,990 for the disc edition and Rs. 44,990 for the digital edition, the slim variant is also available for ultra-fast 10-minute delivery in select cities via Blinkit.

Despite the PS5's significant success, with over 50 million units sold since its November 2020 launch, Sony's quarterly earnings call earlier this year revealed a slowdown in console sales. The company acknowledged its shortfall in meeting the PS5 sales target for fiscal year 2023, falling short by an estimated four million units from its initial goal of 25 million units for the year. This latest promotional offer appears to be a strategic move aimed at streamlining inventory of the older console model while introducing the sleeker and more accessible PS5 slim to the market.
