Reliance Jio just became the country's first telecom operator to provide mobile telephony service to the Kedarnath hiking route. Chairman of the Badrinath-Kedarnath Mandir Samiti, Ajendra Ajay, launched the service that provides telecom connections between the Kedarnath shrine and Gaurikund.
"With a large number of pilgrims expected to visit the Char Dham Yatra this year, Jio has upgraded its network on the Kedarnath trek route to provide devotees with a superior mobile connectivity experience," Reliance said. According to PTI, Jio announced the breakthrough in a statement, saying that the service will allow customers to stay connected with their loved ones via voice and video chats.
Jio claimed it has already installed a full capacity tower in Sonprayag, which is one of the important halt spots on the Kedarnath hike route, in terms of specifics of the newly announced service. Between the Kedarnath Shrine and Gaurikund, the business aims to build five additional towers. One of India's leading telecom companies, Jio, has already built cellular towers at Chhoti Lincholi, Lincholi, and Rudrapoint. It intends to build two additional telecom towers along this path in the near future.
