Ramanand Sagar’s Ramayan will bring back the nostalgia soon on India’s 1st TV Channel DD National. This is on the back of Ayodhya’s Shri Ram Janmabhoomi Temple which was inaugurated recently by our Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
Ramayan was 1st aired on DD National in 1987, 37 years back! It lasted for around 18 months achieving a record-breaking 82% Viewership (BBC record) which was the Highest at that time Worldwide! Apart from being the most-watched TV serial of its time, Ramayan also garnered praises for truly showcasing its saga.
The Ramayan serial was Directed by Ramanand Sagar with Arun Govil as Lord Ram, Dipika Chikhlia as Sita, Sunil Lahri as Lakshman, Dara Singh as Lord Hanuman, and Arvind Trivedi as Ravan. Narration was done by Ashok Kumar and Ramanand Sagar while the soul-touching Music was composed by Ravindra Jain.
Ramayan on DD National again 2024!
Earlier, Ramayan was telecasted on DD National during the Covid-19 pandemic to help enthusiasts past time at home and bring-in positivity to middle & old aged people. It succeeded as the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting claimed high TRP. Currently, Shemaroo TV is broadcasting Ramayan everyday at 7:30 pm. It has 152 episodes across 20 parts. DD National is expected to start re-telecasting Ramayan from 23rd February 2024 so stay tuned!
Sony TV has also started (1st Jan) a new show based on this epic Indian Sanskrit called Shrimad Ramayan. You can watch its latest episodes only on the Sony TV channel via cable TV or DTH. SonyLIV is also streaming Shrimad Ramayan but episodes are getting a lot of delay.
