This year, 2024, is no different—September is set to be packed with new phone releases. Below is a list of some upcoming smartphone launches in India 2024 in September from top brands like Apple, Vivo, iQOO, Motorola, Honor and more

The Apple iPhone 16 series in India launch date is highly expected to be on September 10, Tuesday and the pre-orders are expected to begin on September 13th. The upcoming iPhone 16 series in India sale date would likely be around September 20th, 2024.

Apple usually rolls out its new iPhone series either at the end of the first week or sometime during the second week of September. And since the iPhone 13, they’ve pretty much steered clear of launching on a Sunday or Monday. This year, September 10th is a Tuesday, and with September 11th being Patriot Day in US — a date Apple has avoided in the past — it’s a good bet that we’ll see the iPhone 16 series drop on September 10th.

The iPhone 16 series will feature four models: iPhone 16, iPhone 16 Plus, iPhone 16 Pro, and iPhone 16 Pro Max. There are also rumours of the affordable iPhone SE4 launching which is expected to have a similar design like the iPhone 14.

• Performance: Expect to see the same Bionic A17 Pro chipset from iPhone 15 Pro models in the Apple iPhone 16, & iPhone 16 Plus and a new Bionic A18 Pro chipset in iPhone 16 Pro models.

• Coming to design changes in the upcoming iPhone 16 launch in September, users will likely see a bigger display in the Pro models while all iPhone 16 models are expected to get the Action Button in place of the Mute Button.

• Camera specs are often a make-or-break feature for customers buying iPhones. Rumours have it that the iPhone 16 Pro Max model might include a super telephoto periscope camera with a 300mm focal length and the iPhone 16 and Plus models as usual are expected to get similar camera sensors to their predecessors.

POCO X7 Neo is reportedly another upcoming smartphone launch in September 2024. Built on the success of POCO X6 Neo smartphone, the new POCO X7 Neo is likely to be a rebranded version of the Redmi Note 14 5G. For context, Xiaomi launched Redmi Note 13 5G with Mediatek D6080 in January earlier this year and in March, the POCO X6 Neo with the same chipset was launched.

Both of these phones are now allegedly listed on the BIS website suggesting an imminent smartphone launch in September 2024. The corresponding BIS model numbers of Redmi Note 13 5G and POCO X7 Neo are 24094RAD4I and 2409FPCC4I, respectively.

POCO typically launches its X-series phones in February or March, with the POCO X6 Neo launched this March 2024. It's hard to believe a new POCO X7 Neo would launch just 5 months later, but the BIS certification suggests it might. For now, it's best to take these details with a pinch of salt.

POCO X7 Neo is likely to feature a MediaTek 7200 chip, 120HZ AMOLED display, Dolby Atmos speakers and boast 68W charging. Given POCO’s aggressive pricing, we might get to see the upcoming POCO phone under ₹18,000 to ₹20,000 sale price. The MRP might be around ₹25,000

Among the smartphone releases in India in September 2024, the iQOO Z9 Turbo is set to launch globally as the iQOO 12 Lite 5G. Rumours suggest the iQOO 12 Lite 5G could debut in India between late September and mid-November. In China, the iQOO Z9 Turbo features a Snapdragon 8s Gen 3, a 1.5K AMOLED display, and a 6000mAh battery — specs we might see in the upcoming iQOO phone in India, in September 2024.

The iQOO 12 Lite 5G is expected to be priced similarly to the iQOO Z9 Turbo's 1,999 Yuan (~$280) price, around ₹23,000 in India. However, with import taxes and other factors, the iQOO 12 Lite could be priced higher, potentially ranging from ₹30,000 to ₹40,000.

The Moto Edge 50 series includes the Moto Edge 50, Edge 50 Pro, Edge 50 Fusion, and Moto Edge 50 Ultra. Currently, the Moto Edge 50 Fusion is the most affordable, but the upcoming Moto Edge 50 Neo, expected to launch in India in 2024, could be even cheaper. Last year, the Moto Edge 40 Neo debuted in September as the most affordable model in its series at a sale price of ₹19,999 in the Flipkart BBD Sale making the upcoming mobile launch in September, the Moto Edge 50 Neo one to watch.

While the Moto Edge 50 Neo launch date in India is almost clear, there aren’t enough details out about the price. For context, the Motorola Edge 40 Neo with MTK D7030 was launched at a sale price of ₹19,999 in Flipkart Big Billion Days. This year too we can expect the brand to launch its upcoming phone in India at an attractive price in the BBD 2024 Sale. As per some leaks and rumours, Moto Edge 50 Neo specs will include a flat OLED display, 50MP OIS camera + 13MP ultra-wide + 10MP depth sensor and a 4K video recording support.

Another upcoming mobile launch in India in 2024 in the month of September can be a phone from Motorola’s G-series. We say this because last year we saw the brand launch Moto G84 5G and Moto G54 5G in India in the same month. Some rumours suggest that the new Motorola phone can be Moto G 5G 2024, already launched in some global markets at $199 (16,707 INR).

For context, Moto G24 4G powered by Mediatek Helio G85 is already available in India for ₹8,000 and now we are expecting the upgraded version, Moto G24 Power 5G to launch this year in September 2024.

Vivo’s new smartphone release in India, the Vivo Y38 5G is expected in September 2024 now that the phone is officially confirmed to arrive in Taiwan. As per the official announcement page, Vivo Y38 5G will come in a single variant of 8GB RAM + 256GB storage.

Vivo Y-series phones are known to arrive in budget segment under 15K price. For context, the brand launched Vivo Y28 5G with Mediatek Dimensity 6300 in January earlier this year at a price of ₹14,999 so the Vivo Y38 5G can be a potential predecessor to it.

The exact launch date or price details aren’t out yet but the specifications are a 6000mAh battery with 44W charge, stereo dual speakers, 120Hz HD+ display, Qualcomm Snapdragon 4 Gen 2 chipset and an IP64 rating.

Coming to the Vivo Y38 price in India, rumours say that the phone is likely to be priced around ₹15,000 leading to a price cut on the Vivo Y28 5G phone.

The Honor 200 series has debuted in India with Honor 200 and Honor 200 Pro models in July. The Honor 200 comes with a Snapdragon 7 Gen 3 processor, 50MP OIS main camera + 50MP OIS telephoto camera + 50MP selfie camera and the Honor 200 Pro comes with a Snapdragon 8s Gen 3 with similar camera specs as the Honor 200 5G. However, the Pro version does come with an extra 60W wireless charge, higher RAM and storage option and a curved AMOLED display.

The upcoming Honor 200 Lite 5G can be a more toned-down version with a more affordable price range. Honor 200 Lite 5G, one of the upcoming mobile phones in India in 2024 will boast a 108MP triple rear camera unit, 50MP selfie camera and a flat AMOLED display. Coming to the Honor 200 Lite price, the phone is worth £199 (21,400 INR approx) so we can expect the phone to be priced around 30,000 INR in India.

These are going to be some of the new smartphone launches in India in 2024 September from top brands including Apple, Xiaomi, POCO, iQOO, Vivo, and Motorola. There are also rumours of Samsung S24 FE launching soon in India. We will be updating the details here once there are more details out.

Redmi Note 14 series smartphones will be launched in September 2024 in its homeland, China. With that, we can expect the Redmi Note 14 series in India to arrive by year-end or in January, just like the Redmi Note 13 series launch timeline.

Another anticipated upcoming mobile phone in India 2024 (or year 2025) is also going to be POCO F7 which is leaked to pack the latest Snapdragon 8S Gen 4 chipset. It is likely going to be a rebranded version of Redmi Turbo 4 similar to POCO F6 in India was a rebranded version of Redmi Turbo 3 in China.
