JioCinema, the presently free-to-use OTT platform for Jio and non-Jio users will most likely become paid with subscription plans after IPL 2023. Mrs. Jyoti Deshpande, the President of Reliance Industries in a recent interview with Bloomberg hinted towards the possibility of Jio Cinema's paid subscription plans. Talking about the same she added, “Both price and content are at the front of mind in JioCinema’s expansion.”

Checkout JioCinema (JioVoot) Premium Subscription Plans Starting From Rs 2. Jio Cinema, the current completely free-to-use OTT app and platform in India will soon become paid as per reports. Reliance Jio has disrupted the streaming space in the country by streaming the IPL 2023 for free on Jio Cinema, the same which is paid on Disney+ Hotstar. Due to the same reasons, Reliance Jio has been receiving some interference from its competitor Airtel and now TRAI too.



The President and chairperson of Jio Studios, Mrs. Jyoti Deshpande recently gave an interview with Bloomberg where she spoke on the Jio Cinema expansion plan including the possibility of Jio Cinema becoming a paid subscription plan.

“The expansion will coincide with JioCinema starting to charge for content, though the exact pricing strategy is still being finalized,” media and content business President Jyoti Deshpande said in an interview with Bloomberg.



The film distributor company of Reliance Industries, Jio Studios also recently announced a list of 100 upcoming movies on Jio Cinema which were said to release in the month of May. However, as per the latest interview, the new movie titles on Jio Cinema will start releasing before the IPL 2023 ends.



Discussing the Jio Cinema paid subscription plan pricing strategy, she said the plan is to keep the tariff plans simpler for viewers and while other OTT platforms like Netflix are focusing on Westernised content, Jio Cinema would be focusing on producing movies & films in local languages including Hindi, Bengali, Marathi, Gujarati, etc.

    JioCinema keeps on buffering when I try to watch IPL on my AndriodTV with Airtel connection. They need to improve their services before going for a paid plan.
