If you're wondering about Jio recharge in advance, Airtel recharge in advance, or Vi queue plan options, this article is for you.

Major Indian telecom operators Jio, Airtel, and Vi are increasing tariffs from July 3rd (Jio, Airtel) to July 4th (Vi). Many customers want to recharge their plans before the price increases. If you're wondering about Jio recharge in advance, Airtel recharge in advance, or Vi queue plan options, this article is for you.

Please note on the web there’s no official information provided by telcos about queuing recharges or advance recharges. So the below-mentioned rules, points or information are based on either the personal experience of our users or us trying to call the customer care executive of these telcos.

Without further ado, here’s a simple guide on whether you can queue or advance recharge your Jio, Airtel or Vi plans or not.

How to do Advance Recharge for Jio, Airtel & Vi? Limits and Rules

Jio Queue Plan Options: Can you do Advance Recharge for Jio Prepaid?

Jio as per some online reports has confirmed to allow users to queue up to 50 Jio recharges. This means Jio users can do up to 50 advance recharges.

We personally tried to call the customer care executive of Jio on their toll-free number 199. Initially, it was of course an IVR (Interactive Voice Response) call but after pressing a few commands, we did get to speak with a human executive. The Jio executive confirmed to us 3 things:

  • First, Jio does allow users to queue plans

  • Second, Jio prepaid users can queue any plan of their choice. For example, if you are presently on a ₹666 Jio plan with 84 days validity, you can queue a 365-day plan too.

  • Users can do advance recharge for Jio using 3rd-party apps as well (personally verified)

For now, users can take advantage of the Jio recharge queue option and recharge their Jio prepaid SIM in advance before the tariff hike to save some money on their bills.

This also brings us to our presently running contest: Free recharge giveaway! 🥳🥳

Jio Tariff Hike will make its recharge plans costlier from July 3rd so this can be a good hack to save money on your mobile recharge.

Here are some useful doubts answered by our dimers

“Today Jio 2999 plan is valid for 365 days. What if next they reduced the plan validity to 330 days?”

Today Jio 2999 plan is valid for 365 days. What if next they reduced the plan validity to 330 days?

Thanks to @kunal7121994 for answering that question.

Users can also save money on their Jio recharge plan by buying Jio recharge vouchers from the MyJio app. As this comment from one of our dimer @New_User reads. Thanks to @total_fun for the quick answer

Users can also save money on their Jio recharge plan by buying Jio recharge vouchers from the MyJio app

As you can see in the above image, Jio users can do advance recharge for their prepaid SIM using Jio Vouchers which by the way have no expiry date and can be used anytime you wish.

Keep in mind though if you choose to transfer your Jio recharge voucher, the receiver would have to use the same in a given period of time.

Airtel Advance Recharge Rules: Can you do Advance Recharge for Airtel Prepaid?

Are you an Airtel user wondering if you can do advance recharge for Airtel or not? Well, let’s find out. Regarding the limit of queuing Airtel plans or whether users can do advance recharge or not, the telco confirms,

“If your current plan is Unlimited calls with Daily data ( 209, 239, 265, 299, 319, 359, 399, 479, 499, 519, 549, 666, 699, 719, 779, 839, 869, 999, 1499, 2999, 3359 etc) then similar plans that offer unlimited calls with Daily data recharges will be queued irrespective of the price of the plans & the maximum number of such queueing will be for 730 days post which recharging will fail.”

“If your current plan is Unlimited calls with fixed data (155, 179, 199, 289, 296, 455, 489, 509, 1799 etc) then only queuing of similar plans that offer unlimited calls with fixed data will be valid.”

So clearly, Airtel users can do advance recharge for their prepaid SIM for up to 730 days only. Moreover, users can queue advance recharges of unlimited data plans only with unlimited data plans and fixed data plans with fixed data plans only.

Note that you also have to make sure you are recharging for the same denomination of plan as your existing one. For example, the Rs.1799 Airtel plan can be stacked against the Rs.1799 plan only.

So consider what your current Airtel plan is and then do the recharge accordingly. Thanks to @V76 and @Adamantium for sharing these insights with us here

With the Airtel Tariff Hike starting from July 3rd, be sure to use Airtel coupons and offers if possible for some savings! Can also use an Airtel Axis credit card for 25% cashback on Airtel mobile recharge through the Airtel Thanks app (up to Rs.250 per month billing cycle)

Vi Queue Plan Options for Prepaid Recharge: Can you recharge Vi Plan before expiry

Last but not least coming to the Vi queue plans rules, whether users can do advance recharge for Vi or not, then the good news is yes, Vi users can do advance recharge but stacking or queuing recharges is only applicable on recharge with the same type of benefit. For example, if you previously did a recharge with unlimited data benefits such as Rs.1799, Rs.719. Rs.479, etc then you can only queue a Vi recharge with any of the unlimited data plans only. This means you cannot do advance recharge for your Vodafone Idea SIM with a lumpsum data-limit plan (fixed data plan).

This is explained by some of our dimers here,

“The process is just as simple as recharging/topping up the number in the usual way. In so far as I know, for Idea, only the plans with similar type of benefits can be stacked up. That I'd, plans with 'daily data' can be queued/stacked on each other. However, if there is a combo pack with lumpsum data (example: "N" GB to be used anytime during the validity), then such a pack will not stack up on a running pack with 'daily data limits'. And vice-versa.”

Thanks to @sanghmitra5 for sharing this comment with us here

Also, a big thanks to @kevinmask for taking the risk and sharing with us in the comments below that users can do advance recharge for Vi on any denomination plan. For example, if you are earlier on a Rs.479 unlimited data plan, you can do an advance recharge for a Rs.3099 unlimited data yearly plan as well. The new plan will be queued automatically. Do make sure to read the entire comment here.

Here are some more valuable comments from our users on doing advance recharge for Vodafone Idea prepaid mobile plans.

Vi Queue Plan Options for Prepaid Recharge: Can you recharge Vi Plan before expiry

Upon asking if the data gets carried forward or not on doing advance recharge @beingsr confirmed that the data does get carried forward if we do queue the same plan (same denomination & benefits)

valuable comments from our users on doing advance recharge for Vodafone Idea prepaid mobile plans.

Now that Vi has increased its tariff prices, users can do 1 to 2 Vi mobile recharges in advance and make some savings on their bills. Do note that Vi has not specifically mentioned the validity limit for stacking recharges. So we would advise to only stack 1-2 recharges and not more than that.

HowtodoAdvanceRechargeforJioAirtelViLimitsandRules8

While, we are at the topic of discussing advanced recharge rules for Jio, Airtel and Vi, here’s a quick how-to guide on doing mobile recharges in advance

How to do advance mobile recharge? (Jio, Airtel and Vi)

To do advance mobile recharge for your Jio, Airtel or Vi prepaid SIM card, the method is pretty usual and straightforward.

  1. Open your telecom operator app such as MyJio, Airtel Thanks app, Vi app

OR

  1. Use any other third-party UPI app such as Amazon Pay, Paytm, PhonePe, Gpay

  2. Read the above advance recharge guide and accordingly select an appropriate prepaid plan to recharge in advance

  3. Once selected, simply pay and complete the transaction

  4. Once done, your newly done recharge will be queued on top of your existing plan

  5. Your advance recharge plan will now be activated once your existing plan expires

Important Note for Vi lumpsum data recharges (unlimited calling + daily data + extra "x" GB of data - example: Rs.3099 Vi plan): If you have a Vi ₹3099 plan with 2GB/day and 50GB lump sum data, and you recharge a new plan before the current one expires, the 50GB lump sum data from your current plan will be paused. The new plan's 50GB lump sum data will start immediately. After you use up the new 50GB, your old 50GB will become available again, as long as it's still under the validity of the old plan. Meanwhile, you'll get 2GB/day data benefit queued.

Thanks to @deals_greed for sharing this heads-up with us in the comments below.

So this was all about sharing how users can do advanced mobile recharge for Jio, Airtel and Vi or in other words, make some savings before the telco tariff hike starts on July 3rd and July 4th, 2024.

An important point was missed on Vi recharge. Vi has lumpsum data deals on longer validity plans, like for 3099 plan, 2gb/day with 50gb lumpsum data. But if you recharge Vi before the existing plan is expired, your existing lumpsum will be forfeited and new lumpsum will start at that moment (with 1 year validity for 3099 plan). The old lumpsum will be reactivated after the full consumption of the new lumpsum (if it the validity is not over of the old pack). Although the 2gb/day plan will be queued. Faced this problem last year. Apart from that, its a great article.

Will the autopay amount change after 3rd july if i setup Jio autopay for the 395 plan?

Not sure if it would change or not but if it does, then you'd be able to see the change 5 days in advance as per this clause from Jio (if I have got that right)

"Any modification/cancellation of AutoPay shall be effective from the upcoming debit trigger of AutoPay which is 5 days before the expiry of the (last) active plan or upon 90% of the data consumption for long-term plans with no daily data limit."

I am currently on a ₹179 Fixed Data Plan. If I recharge with a ₹479 Daily Data Plan, will the ₹479 plan activate immediately and will I lose the remaining benefits of my ₹179 plan?

Review Expert Review Expert

As far as I know, you cannot queue a plan from fixed data with daily data (vice-versa). In this case, if you try to queue, the 479 plan will activate immediately losing previous 179 plan's benefits/remaining validity

Edit: Referring to Vi here

An addition regarding Vi recharge as discussed with their cc that similar plan can be qued any number of times but my personal experience says that more than 2 or 3 recharge gets failed. And you can't do multiple recharges within a quick span of time unlike you can do in Jio.

Yes, only one plan can be queued per day. For 2nd, you need to recharge after 24 hours of previous recharge.

Thanks a lot for detailed information

I've spoken with customer care executives of respective carriers. Please confirm once

Jio:

Unlimited 5G only works with recharges of 2GB or more data per day. This information was confirmed by a Jio customer care representative.

Queued recharges before July 3rd will be grandfathered in and continue to offer unlimited 5G according to their original plan validity.

Queued recharges activated after July 3rd will follow the revised plan benefits, which may not include unlimited 5G even if the total data allowance seems sufficient.

Example:

Recharging with four ₹395 plans (each with 84 days validity) before July 3rd will provide unlimited 5G for the entire validity period (all four recharges combined).

However, once the first recharge expires and the second one activates after July 3rd, you'll receive only 6GB data (from the ₹395 plan) with 84 days validity, but no unlimited 5G because the revised plan might not offer it

Airtel:

Queueing recharges does not work for Airtel. Airtel plans will activate based on the recharge date, not the queuing order. The exceptions are half-yearly and yearly plans.

There is no benefit to queuing Airtel prepaid recharges because the latest activated plan will override any previous ones.

Directly Quoting VI customer care from Twitter - "Regarding your recharge concern I would like to inform you that if you do the recharge with multiple daily data quota UL packs, before the expiry of the earlier pack validity you will enjoy additive validity, unlimited (UL) calling and per day data quota benefits for the complete, additive validity period. After the clubbing the new integrated benefits will be added to your account simultaneously. Currently, please note new recharge will not be queued it will be clubbed as per the recharge you will do. Once you do the new recharge it will be activated on the same day within 30 minutes please note it will not be activated after the expiry of your current recharge. Also, I am sharing you the example of how recharges will be clubbed with you in case if you select the recharges which is different data quota and different validity:

Pack 1 (Recharged on day 1) – 28 days, 2 GB/day
Pack 2 (Recharged on day 10) – 90 days, 3 GB/day  Additive Benefit Total Validity= 118 days (28 days + 90 days)
Total UL calling= 118 days (28 days + 90 days)
Total Data Benefit 1 GB (Base)+1 GB (supplementary)= 2 GB/day from day 1 to day 09
1 GB (Base)+3 GB(supplementary)= 4 GB/day from day 10 to day 28
1 GB (Base)+2 GB (supplementary)= 3 GB/day from day 29 to day 99
1 GB (Base)= 1 GB/day from day 100 to day 118.
