CSpace is a new OTT platform which will be launched tomorrow (7th March 2024, 9:30 am) is now launched by the Kerala government. It is India's 1st Government-backed OTT platform. CSpace promises informative and entertaining content especially tailored for the masses.
Kerala's Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan will launch the CSpace OTT platform at Kairali Theatre. Film Director and Chairman at Kerala State Film Development Corporation (KSFDC), Shaji N Karun revealed the reason for CSpace by saying, “CSpace is essentially a response to the growing imbalances and multifarious challenges in the OTT sector in terms of content selection and propagation”. KSFDC is a state-owned company entrusted with the promotion of Malayalam cinema and industry.
The CSpace OTT platform is backed by the Department of Cultural Affairs of Government of Kerala. Talking about CSpace’s content, a curator panel of 60 members including eminent cultural personalities from the state and KSFDC have selected and approved the content.

42 Films (35 feature, 1 short) including 6 Documentaries will be available for streaming in the first phase. Moreover, Films that have won awards (Nishiddho | B32 to 44) or have been exhibited at major film festivals will also be streamed on CSpace.
KSFDC managing director K V Abdul Malik said, “Around 150 films were reviewed before narrowing it down to 42. Hence, the audience can expect quality content curated by almost 60 panel members. The app will take at least a year to become stable and we are open to all suggestions and innovations at the budding stage”.
CSpace will only showcase films that have been released in theaters. Moreover, Free content from the government and the Chalachitra Academy, and performances from the state arts festival will be added in due course in this new OTT platform.

CSpace OTT Pricing
You can view CSpace content on a ‘pay per view’ rental basis instead of the traditional subscription model which is seen in top Indian OTTs. Price/Rent of a feature film is ₹75 while a short movie will cost less than this. Price range is ₹20-₹1000 per content. After purchase, a movie’s validity is 3 months, but once you start viewing you will have 3 days to complete the movie (a similar model to YouTube Movies available on rent).
A CSpace content can be viewed on upto 3 devices at a time thus OTT account sharing is kept limited here. The CSpace mobile app is now available for download on Google Play Store and Apple App Store.
