I think there is some fishy organized cartel in Chennai for last 2 years or so. Usually we start getting Banganapalli mangoes at 50 Rs from May onwards. But nowadays evrything is around 100 and only comes down around june or july month alone and then vanishes.  

This is just my observation

Mango pickle from Andhra is not made from Banganapalli variety. The pickle variety is supposed to be very raw, super tangy and hard(to cut) so that it wont get soften over time. The variety my grand ma uses for pickle is Jalaalu(bigger in size weighing 600-700gm each) or Gulaabeelu(a bit smaller).
