Airtel's Revised Mobile Tariffs | New Prepaid & Postpaid Plans

After Jio’s Tariff Hike, Bharti Airtel is raising prices for its prepaid and postpaid plans to support budget-challenged consumers. Despite the increase in plans, the company will continue to offer data and call minutes benefits. The changes in prepaid and postpaid plans include higher rates for entry-level plans and yearly as well as daily data plan adjustments.

Bharti Airtel has announced a price hike for all its prepaid and postpaid plans. This decision follows Jio’s recent tariff increase. According to Airtel, the new rates will take effect on July 3, 2024. The company mentioned that the price of its entry-level plans will go up by 70 paise.

Here is Airtel's official statement:

Bharti Airtel (‘Airtel’) has maintained that the mobile Average Revenue per User (ARPU) needs to be upwards of INR 300, to enable a financially healthy business model for Telcos in India. We believe that this level of ARPU will enable the substantial investments required in network technology and spectrum and offer a modest return on capital.

In this light, we welcome the announcements in the industry to repair tariffs. Airtel will also revise its mobile tariffs as indicated below, from JUnlimitedy 3rd. We have ensured that there is a very modest price increase (less than 70p per day) on the entry level plans, in order to eliminate any burden on budget challenged consumers.

The revised tariff increases the price of the Rs 179 monthly plan to Rs 199. The plan will still offer 2GB of mobile data per day, unlimited calling, and 100 SMS per day. The validity of the plan remains 28 days. Similarly, the annual plan that used to cost Rs 1,799 and offers 2GB of mobile data per day, unlimited calling, and 100 SMS per day will now cost Rs 1,999. Airtel's daily data add-on plans will now start at Rs 22, which is a Rs 3 increase from the previous Rs 19.

Airtel's postpaid plans now range in price from Rs 449 to Rs 1,199. For daily data plans that offer up to 3GB of data per day, the starting price is now Rs 265.
