Airtel Payments Bank is one of the top 6 payments banks in India. In a recent partnership with NPCI, the Airtel Payments Bank has launched NCMC cards (National Common Mobility Card) on its Airtel Thanks app. The NCMC card comes in the form of a debit card, prepaid card or credit Rupay card and can be used for contactless payments at metro, grocery stores, toll and even retail outlets (with NFC) as well as on online stores. Airtel Payments Bank NCMC Card launched

Airtel is today buzzing on the internet for hitting a record high on the stock market. The upward move is said to have come after some tariff optimism that suggests a possible tariff hike for telcos post-elections. Moreover, Airtel in partnership with NPCI has launched an NCMC card facility on its Airtel Thanks app.

For those of you who may not know, Airtel Payments Bank also allows customers to open a savings account and use features like UPI, recharges, bill payments, FASTags, and fund transfers. Moreover, the payments bank also has some frequent cashback offers running.

What is an NCMC card?

An NCMC card is a contact + contactless inter-operable transport card launched by the government of India in March 2019. An NCMC card works just like a debit card or a prepaid card. Customers can use it for seamless tap, pay and go payments as well as online payments

Use cases: Metro, buses, parking, toll, grocery stores, offline merchants that accept contactless payments and online stores as well

How to order an NCMC card on the Airtel Thanks app?
  1. Customers can now order the NCMC-enabled debit card on Airtel Thanks app or by visiting any of the 5 Lakh designated banking points of Airtel Payments Bank

  2. To order the card, customers first need to open a savings account or prepaid wallet in the Airtel Payments Bank

  3. You might need to submit your government ID proof such as an Aadhar card or PAN card

  4. Order the NCMC card on the Airtel Thanks app through its banking section

  5. Get the card delivered to your door

  6. Start using the card for tap and pay payments on metro, buses, and ferries or enjoy deals and discounts on paymentsApply for Airtel NCMC Card

but i am frustrated trying to recharge this card online- there is no online help, only way at present is to get it recharged at metro station itself- but can anyone guide how to do this recharge/top up ONLINE!!! Even the Airtel Thank App does not show this card!?

it's an absolute waste to get this card. First, it's stupid what you have to go through to recharge this online (only Airtel Thanks app works - nothing else). And even after you've done all the crazy bs and recharged this useless appendage - guess what - you still gotta physically tap it at the recharge machine at any metro station. So the million dollar question then becomes: why TF would a person not directly recharge it at the metro station if that step is a mandatory addon after online recharge anyway!!
