Sunscreen lotions and creams are some of the most important skincare items all year. However, a widespread misunderstanding about this product is that we only use it when we go to the beach or relax by the pool. Direct sun exposure causes not only tanning but also pigmentation and early symptoms of ageing.
Beauty specialists and dermatologists all over the world recommend using sunscreen lotions regularly, even though you are not leaving your house. Sunscreens come in a wide range of different ways, including cream, gel, sticks, and sprays, among others; all you have to do is figure out what works best for you.

Now that you know the best sunscreens lotions, let’s take a look at some of the important aspects we all have asked several times but haven’t found a solid answer to it.
What are some common ingredients in sunscreen?
All sunscreens contain several active ingredients that safeguard against both UVA and UVB rays. These ingredients are classified into two types: physical blockers and chemical absorbers. Titanium dioxide and zinc oxide are two typical physical blockers.
They form a physical shield between the skin and the sun's rays. Oxybenzone, avobenzone, homosalate, and octinoxate are examples of chemical absorbers. These absorbers absorb UV rays, preventing them from being absorbed by our skin.
What’s the difference between UVA and UVB rays?
UVA and UVB rays are two kinds of ultraviolet rays that penetrate the earth's surface from the sun. Although UVB rays do not penetrate as deeply as UVA rays, they cause sunburn and play the most important role in skin cancer, but their penetration into the deeper layers of the skin often causes premature ageing and wrinkling. UVA rays account for 95% of UV rays that penetrate the earth's surface.
What are SPF and what its different ratings mean?
SPF is an abbreviation for Sun Protection Factor, and the number next to it means how much sunscreen prevents skin from sunburn. A basic formula is used to calculate the SPF number. The time it takes for a layer of skin to slightly redden when coated with sunscreen is separated by the time it takes to slightly redden when no sunscreen is added. Assume that it took 300 seconds for the skin to burn with sunscreen and 10 seconds without. 300 divided by ten equals 30. The sun protection factor (SPF) is 30.
How to apply sunscreen and when?
Sunscreen should be applied around 15 minutes before going outdoors, and it should still be applied on dry skin. Sunscreen should be applied to any exposed skin areas that are not protected by clothes. Reapply sunscreen after two hours, or more often if swimming or sweating. To get the full benefit of the sunscreen's SPF, add it generously.
Is sunscreen sufficient sun protection on its own?
No, it does not. Also, the strongest SPF sunscreens do not have complete protection from the sun's damaging rays. Also, keep in mind that sitting under a shade would not have enough shade because the sun's rays quickly bounce off the sand and water. We advise wearing sunglasses, wide-brimmed hats, reflective footwear, in addition to sunscreen.
