Please don’t start a Political discussion. Only discuss about pros and cons. Would be great if the opinions are based on some facts.
Some facts:
Maharashtra ranks second highest in the proportion of Suicides.
The revenue of Taj Mahal every year is around 25crs. Even if we assume that these Statues earn the same money, it takes 180 years to cover the expenses! Lol
Maharashtra has the highest number of slums in urban India.

3600 Crore public ka in the Ocean.
Those are one of the most developed countries of the world.
The question is of priorities. Do we need statues or do we need better healthcare, education and less poverty?
All statues worldwide like liberty , effil tower etc are ok even in india many many historic places on which huge maintenance cost is also justified . leave alone historic ones even a party supremo get made so many statues that too of just party symbol in UP that too justified .
But statue of unity (262 riyasats into 1 India) is waste of money .
Sorry to say but posting a politicized thread and demanding no politics means you want to hear only 1 sided view of only those people who opposing it .
Well in opposing this some people (wire) even saying sivaji was looter who looted Surat people (but reality is different) . so thanks to msm to divide people on our heros . taimur is OK but not sivaji .
India has one of the highest death by malnutrition. 3600 crores rupees of food for malnourished people vs a statue, what would you choose? I don’t want to fight but India is a developing country, we have many problems, taxes should be used to solve these problems. One can’t eat a statue.
It’s not about expenditure or efficiency or wastage. It’s about politics. Even in ancient times the Romans organised ‘gladiator’ fights to please the masses. Now we live in a civilised society where they have to find other means to appease the mass and gather goodwill at the same time it acts as a distraction from the crude realities of life.
Guys if you counter any issue emotionally then take a stone and start with elephant statues in UP and billion rs home of her . bcoz she made those only on emotional caste game .
So either be neutral or be silent .
Point for those who do emitional gane – giving crores rs in compensation for politics is also wastage actually big wastage of money of tax payers and people are still affected from malnutrition . did any of you made comment on that day ?? Daily need new topic .
Politics generate issues + put some masalas and then few people take this as their duty to discuss n fight on those .
Read some news to cover this point .
They saying shivaji looted Surat lol. He only looted aurangjeb (read who was aurangjeb) .
This is called politics when we chose aurangjeb over sivaji . really such low level politics .

When I last visited Murud Janjira fort, It was in such a bad state! Even Shivneri fort has no basic lights in the room where Shivaji was born… TOI Covered this article today:

Its indeed sad that all this drama is being done for purely political reasons.
Its sad how govt succeeds everytime polarising people , and divert their attention everytime from major issues [read demonitisation ]
If purpose is to pay honours to Shivaji Maharaj, then why doesnt govt
1. Builds canal using same money to Vidarbha, Marathvada and name it Shivaji canal.
2. Maintain and upkeep Shivaji’s forts. And make then part of incredible india campaign.
3. Use this money to contruct low cost housing for slum dwellers.
4. Use same money for loan waivers of farmers under Shivaji maharaj ’s named scheme.
Even Shivaji maharaj would turn in his grave seeing such wasteful use of resources on his name.
Ps. Statue would most probably be outsourced to some chinese firm like Statue of Unity

Collect more taxes from Common man, Use it for Costly statues, Win Brownie points from polarised voters, Do some ghotala by giving project to “Pet” companies… Indeed Sad!

1 banda aata h bolta h shiva was xxxx we call him xxxx , and now you say the day will come we will have godse as statue , itne bure din nhi aaye , jab banaye na tab bolna khulke .
there is a lot of difference in making statue of sardar and making of godse , understand that logic . sardar did much respect to gandhiji even more than loving chachu .

WTF. hav made a policy will not give alm, wil not help financially, period.

this is waste of time and money, we dont have any university in top 5 or even top 10 in world, better invest this much money in qulaity education.
