Bug: [Incorrect Session Status] Users are shown as online for upto an hour after logging out.

I have noticed that the user status in the profile page and the “All Forums” page is shown as online for a long time after the user has actually logged out. Never tested for the exact time period. But this seems to be an issue with whatever sync method/script you have in place for reflecting the user’s session state.

This is a major problem! Simply because it sets wrong expectations. Apart from general messaging, think about the cases where a trade is involved. Consider a trading post by a user (buyer) for some item. Another user (seller) sees the post and sends the requested voucher/code to the buyer and expects the offered exchange voucher/wallet/code in his inbox promptly. In the meanwhile, the buyer might have gone offline. But the seller still sees him online and this creates unnecessary confusion and possible dispute/hostility!

Its actually half hour to be precise…. We have seen that many times users are reading content/watching videos on Dost and Dimes forum, Hence an assumption is made that user is online for half hour since his/her last action on DD.

I will talk with the team and figure out if there is a way to show online users in a better war.

sorry if I am unable to express it correctly I suggest you make an account on esato and try once
not promoting that place, i am not even active nor associated with esato. Besides its a much different thing compared to DD.

Reason:
1] help bring transparency in post/repost arbitration or as circumstantial evidence if any disputes of abusive behaviour or referral/ self promotion arises.
As now a days everyone seems to view everything in very commercial terms. My FPD My Leaderboard status etcetera

2] lots pranks get played by aping similar edits as a legit Mod edit, just to fool around
so if a time stamp with dimer detail is available, it helps a bit

Reason:
people sometimes fade out fully and at times do drop in but do not immediately come up on any alerts or activity.
if we want to keep in touch or in the circle, better to know who all are really around.

(not a must have thing, but a good feature nonetheless)

Reason:
often we get to interact or get acquainted with like minded people off such places as DD .
its good to know if a @DealSeeker visited my profile page, maybe he was on my deal and wanted to know more about me,
or someone tagged/ mentioned me and he was there to check things out of that reference.
Or someone simply seeing a reply I made and does want to check my other activity

This is just a way for connectivity to increase.

@admin At least two of @opium’s suggestions have been in my mind for quite some time, but I never got to to the point of collecting my thoughts and posting them. Mainly because of my laziness.

Some of these are standard features available on most OOTB forum apps. As I mentioned in my previous post, displaying a user’s correct online/session status is a crucial feature. As @opium suggested, displaying the user’s session status on the user profile box next to every post is a very good idea. Instead of a full word, it could just be a green/gray circle somewhere in that small profile box if space is an issue.

“Dimer mentioned you in his post” This is what I get in my email everytime I am tagged by someone. This is offensive? or at the very least not politically correct considering the ( hopefully )sizable number of female dimers. You could word it as " You were mentioned by a dimer " or something similar thats gender neutral.

we in general tend to equate one gender as better or use gender specific references in common terms of reference (bol chaal ki bhai)

first I’d think it is about us Indians/ Asians/ Mid-Eastern cultures (or the so called 3rd world)

@Dealseeker welcome mate and yes, I am thankful for you to now latch ON to all the relevant terms or formts on the forum templates thing.

and yes, that whole online now thing isn’t really required. even a small radio button type light. or something as subtle as the handle name/ hyper-link colour change could do.

so when you mention about mulling over two of the things, I hope, is ‘edited by/ edited at’ feature is one of them.

the kit-pit during midnight posting of the usual DOTD’s and similar backended edit contraversies made me want to request these.

currently you can post a legit deal; I can go back and edit my upcoming deal post in sweet time and always come back to claim I had updated my topic even before you posted the correct DoTD.

of-course, all these aren’t 100% measures. everything is dynamic and subjective now with each person thinking differently.

this too may have its fallings.

to go back to mobile without logging off or clicking any link, reverse the toggle.

lastly, on mobile site since the flush notification link doesn’t show up, i made it a tiny url that i type out >> is.gd/flushnotif

nor the bought/ Like/ Dislike image/name is visible (i guess work the URL of those clicks to register my choice)

Everytime I click on “Love It” or “Like it” buttons I am redirected to recent posts page. This happens using mobile browsers like Opera Mini or UCWeb and in the mobile site. I hv to then enable images and/or switch over to desktop site to perform these.

Anytime I am composing a post that takes more than 20-25s I am asked to login again post which I land up in the Deals page. Its so infuriating. I hv to compose the post in a text editor and copy paste the same. Again this happens using Mobile site in mobile browsers like Opera Mini etc.

Hilariously this happened with the above as well.

Bug: Missing notifications on the website for which emails are sent

Within the last one hour, I have received at least 3-4 emails about activities that are not present in my notifications box/history on the desktop website. I am not sure how long this has been going on for because I rarely check my emails for notifications and rely on the notifications history to check/respond to the tags by other users. http://www.desidime.com/notific...ns

I hope you understand that this is a major issue and should be given priority ASAP.

Yes it was because of the delay in emails/sms being sent out… We are already working on certain changes which will help us fix these problems soon…

For past couple of days, I have not got any mail for the PMs being send to me. I get mail for fans and tags, but not PM.

Edit: The above cockiness may please be pardoned, or if not pardoned then ignored. But please do consider if the preview before finally saving a post feature is reasonable to get onboard and will be benefitial to larger audience or not. [often editing a verbose post in which line breaks go haywire, is an embarrassment. So also many deal posters who have mixed content (images) formatting will benefit too]

Bug/Suggestion: Users are able to waste their FPD suggestion quota on deals that are already promoted to FPD

The title is self-explanatory. IMO, it’s a bug to leave the “Suggest as FP deal” button enabled after a deal is promoted to the front page. Moreover, I would also like to highlight the longstanding bug of being able to suggest one deal multiple times. Again, simply because the button doesn’t get disabled after a user has suggested a deal once. On the other hand, the code for the “Add to Channel” button already takes care of this. Please utilize that existing logic and build upon it to also not allow any user to suggest a deal once it gets promoted to the front page.

@admin Many images are not visible. For example, the vote up/down images at the top of every thread and the little heart image next to the like button for each post.

BTW, like the new transparent look for the “reply” modal popup.
