I don't believe he's entirely off the mark. When you run your own company or have people you depend on to get work done (i.e. you are a leader/manager) then you will start seeing things from his point of view.

It is difficult to accept one's own shortcomings and the tendency is to blame someone else. Thus, it has become fashionable to diss the workplace as toxic as if it is bonded labour. Neither is your ankle is chained, nor will you be shot at when you try to leave nor are you in a foreign country where your employer has your passport with them. You can resign and quit but either you don't want to look for another job or you have got yourself into a situation (e.g. home loan) where you can't afford to go without a paycheck even for a month.

Most people work 6 days if not 7 days and usually overtime, it may not hold true for software engineers hired by big corporates but others usually do. So he is not saying anything that's not already the work culture of India.
