Why Desidime was not created in Hindi or other languages?

This has such a simple explanation and people are saying divisive things and getting divided into camps over this. The explanation is legacy. The world wide web was created primarily in English to ensure maximum reach to the global audience. Ecommerce websites were built in English because of the same reason. Then they came to India. Science and technology are taught using English because that way you get the maximum amount of knowledge as all top journals, books are written in English. This legacy continues. More recently, e-commerce websites added features to translate the whole website into regional languages. It’s a cheap service provided by many providers which even Desidime can implement. That way with the click of a button every text will be translated into whatever language you wish. If Desidime adds it eventually, possibly very few people will use it because the translation will be bad. This is the explanation. Legacy.
This was actually a very big debate at the dawn of the internet. How can more and more people join the internet, if they do not speak English and there is no regional content? Older people will remember this, until 2015, that is 6 years back, there was no Indian regional content on the internet. There were pirated TV shows from Sony, Zee, Star, and pirated regional movies for offline viewing on shady websites, or you could buy pirated CDs and DVDs with prints of movies captured in a theater, and even music was pirated. There were NO legal ways of watching a TV show or even a Bollywood film online. Then everything changed, Hotstar came into the picture, and others joined the fray. And see, how you can find so much content in regional languages now on the internet. The same will happen with the websites. The options of translating into your regional language will come slowly. For example, did you see that recently in Google search, depending on geography, your local search results are shown often in your local language? That is the future. For now, legacy.
Off-topic: Have you noticed that in all Sci-fi movies, humanoid aliens wear the same clothes? Now you may argue, it will be a very convenient thing to do. Pick the finest and best dress in a country in a public ceremony, adopt this as national dress, and then force everyone to wear the same thing. It will be so much cheaper to make, save so many resources, will be cheaper to recycle, will eliminate inequality among social classes, unite a country, and so on. And there exist isolated but very unified tribes who wear the same dress made of straws and feathers already, so why not. Almost everyone dislikes this idea. Apparently, people are overall happier with different dresses, the variety it brings, in spite of the fact that it is not cheap or convenient, it is divisive, and so on. Similarly, the overall happiness of a nation using different languages is much more than the same nation using one language, however fine and good that one language may be.
And it will blow your mind, one nation actually tried to implement this idea of enforcing unity through one official language, which engendered a war on language and it soon got divided into two nations and each one retained its own language. They were even unified in their major religion. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bengali_language_...

The reason is not mere legacy. You visit webpages from Germany, Sweden, Japan, China. We use Google translator to do so. The love for English language dates back to post independence days. If a person spoke/speaks two/ three English words then he was/is considered as an intellectual.
At those times major political party, aka Congress, didn’t take suitable steps to employ a common language. Entire India can use common currency, common food but can’t use common language! The false pride in being separated n yet being United as Indians has done a lot of damages. People don’t understand eachother. Some people berate a particular language speaking people, especially Biharis and Bengalis.
In childhood we watched Hindi serials. So, we actually had a chance to learn it without even realising properly. We learnt Sanskrit, English n Hindi in schools. We could have learnt Telugu/Tamil/Kannada/Malayalam as a separate subject. We could have been encouraged to learn at least one South Indian languages. But it didn’t happen. Same thing didn’t happen in South India.
If people think that English can be a linking language, then why can’t Hindi take its place? Don’t you think that our people have been cheated of their birthrights to be Indian first. Our stupid corporates also divide India as North n South. In DTH packs there would be options like North package/South Package.
Now let’s come to the discussion. Why majority of the websites in India are designed to show English language?
1) Indians are more comfortable in English these days. For generations after generation we have practiced A for Apple, B for Ball. That habit won’t go off that easily.
2) People divided by so called diversity found a way to be united by English. Hindi is not spoken in South India. But they are very well versed in English. That’s because of the dirty politics. And they are fiercely protective of their own culture.
3) Pride issue. People want to speak/write English because they think that it’s spoken/used by superior people. We have been conditioned that way.
4) Political intercompatibilty.
That’s it. Nothing against anybody. It’s just we have come so far away that returning to the common point n do a start over sounds time consuming n ineffective.

Interesting fact -
क) Hindi bolne wale log angreji bolne wale logo k khilaf nhi ha. woh logo ko bas apni bolne ka adhikar chahiye.
ख) Angreji bolne wale log hindi bolne wale logo k khilaf ha, woh log hindi ko puri tarah se jadd se khatam karne ki kosish karte ha aur aisa na bhi hua toh unlogo k vyabahaar toh aisa he hota ha.
Ab sab se mahatvapurn baat, jinko angreji nhi aata ha woh banda angreji me anuvaad kaise karega ? kya bewakufo wali baat ha yaar. Vyavasthaapak tak aise bewakufo wali baat karta ha. Yeh ek virodhaabhaas ha. jo angreji bolne wale log samjhte nhi ha. Jisko angreji aata ha woh sidhe angreji me baat karega, jisko nhi aata ha angreji me anuvaad nhi kar sakta ha. kyunki usko angreji nhi aata ha. Aur Vyavasthaapak tak ko yeh baat samjh nhi aata ha. Angreji bolne wale log Vyavasthaapak se ja kar prashna karne lagte ha ki woh hindi bolne wale vyakti ne kya kaha ? Agar yehi chiz hindi bolne wale log karne lage angreji bolne wale logo k sath toh Vyavasthaapak kya karega ? Phir har din hazaro sandesh aayega Vyavasthaapak k pas ki mujhe yeh angreji wale sabdh aur lekh samjh nhi aaya, kripya hindi me bataye.
Bro translation is only a formality to meet the rules, there’s something called “Google translate”
No one is ever gonna check whether the translation is verbatim or not. Just copy paste in Google translate and your job is done.
What about english ? only 10% to 11%
by the way we live in a 2021. Now a days South Indian teens or youth also know Hindi. Ofcourse not all South Indian people.
Most of the north Indian, west, east and even north east people now understand hindi.
Ye angrej khud to bada Tees maar Khan samajhte hai aur hindi walo se nafrat krte / hamesha neecha dekhane ki koshish krte hai … specially hamare S O U T H* wale bhai (user specific angrej *😂 ) . Tum jo bhi kaho wo hindi national/official/majority me bolane wali aasan bhasa hai ye kabhi hajam nahi kr sakte 😠
@abhishek012 See you have provoked one and this guy who is a human, an Indian is not doing sarcasm, he thinks his warped worldview is the truth and his opinion is the fact. What do you do with him?
We are all on the same side, there is no South Indian, North Indian, there are only humans and there is no us vs. them. And Google translator and other service providers have already figured out a way so that no one has to learn any other language and do things in their own language. That is coming soon. Until then hold your horses and stop spewing the poison inside you.
Guys lets not genderized on the basic of percentage or north or south or Hindi or English or Tamil etc.
We are simply following & kept rules on the basis of what we have personally noticed so far in this forum. And this is not the first time such debate or discussion is going on regarding language & its use & types of fonts to be used.
DesiDime is a Deal site and all users (old/new/signed up/non signed up, etc) who are visiting this platform are more comfortable with English language (to read, understand, and discuss about a deal/offer) and hence we have made its usage compulsory that too only in “hot-deal” section. There are multiple other sections where you can use other language and there is no restriction as such.
Kuch samja nahi aaya ye kya likha hai . Kosna bhasha hai ye ??? Chinglish!!

I speak hind in most of time in dost & dime section because kisi ko comment samajh na bhi aaye toh its fine since this section isn’t main agenda for dd.
Maybe dd have to come up with some innovation to translate our Hinglish to English and vice versa until then I support English for hot deals section. Everywhere else there shouldn’t be any issue with any language
Nahi bhai aaj koi night show nahi hai wo nikal liya duniya se …
I do not understand idea of language imposition (especially Hindi imposition) expressed by some dimers in this thread. I speak a regional South Indian language because of my culture and roots, Marathi because it’s the language and culture of the state I grew up and work in and Hindi because of exposure to Bollywood. Now who’s to decide that Hindi is superior to others and it should be ‘official’. English seems the most logical for a website like this because it doesn’t give anyone an upper hand since majority of dimers have some regional language as mother tongue and learnt English via education.
The argument, whether correct or not, is immaterial. No one needs to learn any
language to do anything let alone using internet. That time is gone. Slowly and steadily every website will have an option to view it in your own spoken language. There will be no imposition of any language on anyone. It happened to monolingual and larger markets first. India is next and soon, it will be ubiquitous. Just hang on there.
Jaldi khalo makkhi jayega nahi to muh me
You are so wrong , before hotstar etc there was streaming site by reliance called bigflix , which use to premiere (first day first show) movies too e.g Dhobi ghat , but it never succeeded … people were addicted to watch pirated contents .
Even now , most of people grabs new movies / shows etc thru illegal channels only .
Nothing has changed .
OP, your question is good but seems it hurts owners of dd
how can a person know the deal if he doesn’t ’t know the language.
people may post same deal in multiple languages.
how will mods know if this is repost or some comment which violates the forum rules if they don’t know the language.
How will home page look if multilingual deals exists..it may make new user uncomfortable to check the deal.
AFAIK the deal links are dd affiliated. They get the commission.
This chaos may impact their business.
They will probably never allow multilingual deals..seems Impossible
This is my last response in this thread, the current translation services take the whole website including dynamic elements and translate it to any language you want. So if that is implemented, everyone will see all the deals in the language they set in preference. You select language during onboarding and after which you see everything on the website in that language. Already many apps and websites have this feature. You can visit Amazon of other countries or even choose a language in Google search to understand what I am talking about. Contributors can write in any language they wish and admin can check looking at all posts translated into English. This will happen very soon across all websites and will happen as an added feature, not a complete overhaul of the websites. No one will feel anything has changed. Except some deals originally posted in Telugu or Hindi or Bengali will translate badly in English and admins will remove them or people will downvote them or something of the sort. Then the contributors will learn what language to use or how to post in their language that protects their own interests.
Anyway, I really wanted to bring some sanity back to the language discussion that was happening in this platform. It’s not the most sophisticated or intellectual platform but it does serve a purpose and it has a lively user base and contributors. Some psychotic people thought they are starting a movement by demanding Hindi. It is divisive for many reasons and everyone knows that. So I thought I’d put a simple perspective forward and I have done so. It may not have worked with everyone but at least this thread has been able to avoid fanning the fire and put some carbon dioxide on the growing fire.

Because hindi is just another regional language!! And regional languages doesn’t benefit the wider audience.
If there is one common language which everyone would know, then it should be english! Majority of the world & the internet works with English!
Admin, please lock this thread. There are psychotic people on both sides of the aisle. English as a lingua franca is not challenged but why regional languages cannot coexist on this platform which will facilitate reach to a broader audience is questioned. And answer to that is the solution lies in a translator service that shows the entire website in your chosen language irrespective of which language a deal is posted. This is right in the horizon and will happen anytime soon. Just give it a few more years and let’s talk again on this in 2024.
2-3 months pahle hi hot deals check Krna band kr diya tha mene .

By approving Hindi on DD, since it is widely spoken in India. what if other people come as ask to put their language such as bengali,Marathi, tamil, telugu since it is widely spoken in many part of India and they are not familiar with Hindi
Almost all translation tools are bad in translating Asian languages
