Simply Make SIP and forget for some years. But Review after 1 Year, if fund not performing well change fund and forget again. 😄
the moment you say manage in 1 year... then its not really forgetting lol:) xD

IN MF you can never forget:) because it has TER expense ratio that will eat everything
only in stocks you can do this forget and hold technique WITH BASKET OF STOCKS AS IT DONT HAVE TER(i.e no expense ratio)
so when ever people say hold and forget IT IS NOT APPLICABLE FOR MUTUAL FUNDS:) sadly many retail people dont understand this
Would prefer mix of all. Mutual funds, Gold, Real estate. You need balance everything based on your needs and risk appetite.
P2P..but sadly RBI doesn't want it.

What do you mean by SIP/mutual?
SIP (periodic investment) is just a way of investing in any investment product( debt/equity/gold/real state).
by Mutual do you mean debt mutual fund or equity mutual fund or any other combo?
