Earlier in age, the better it is as premiums are lower. But you also end up paying for longer as well so it tends to balance itself out over time.
It is better to start when you have dependencies like family, or liabilities like loans, debts. It should be ideal to take the term at this point. Even though you have crossed the age 30 or 35, it is recommended to take the Term and also better to take higher limit like 3-5cr. Go for only Term, don't mix up with money back plans or endowment. If you are going for higher limit, no need to take accident policy or other add-ons. So, if you have dependencies you must take.
When you are young, you want to go for low premium going forward, then it's better to take, anyway there would be family in future, no problem with taking the policy earlier. In most cases, you won't eligible for higher limit, but that's not a problem, you can extend in between when you moved to better package after your few yours. I would recommend to take at 18. Don't mix up pure term with any other policies. Go for cheap one in the market and give all of your information without any mistakes. Even though you made mistake, please correct it asap. Other benefit to take at early age is, as most of the people don't diagnose with any chronic diseases, so there would be no possibility of rejection of policy. Even you have diagnosed after 3 yrs, it won't be considered for any policy rejection in future.
