MER EMI in HDFC Means Merchant EMI
Mer EMI & No cost EMI are the same
Merchant will pay the interest to bank which will be given as discount to you at the time of purchase which make the total cost same as that of the product
Still one has to pay processing fee may be around 100–250 + GST on processing fee depending on bank
OFFUS EMI in HDFC is Emi principal offset…this is usually a Cashback
In General OFFUS transactions are those where, transactions happen between banking institutions that are two separate entities or the card issuer and the payment processor are different entities, with the payment processor acting as an intermediary between the cardholder and the merchant
For example, your card holder issuer Bank is A and you have done a transaction to grocery shop for which acquirer Bank is B. So the transaction route different network is called to OFFUS transaction
In such transaction , sometimes the amount will be debited from your account then refunded to statement but credit limit will be reduced to same amount
Later they will start debiting the amount as per your EMI, Interest and GST]
