Weird issue with money transfer

I sent money to someone through Bhim app. I used his mobile number and it showed correct name after that, hence I transferred the money.
today he says he didn’t receive the money and the UPI ID in the receipt is not his.
but I had used his mobile number and the name that came up was also his. Now he’s showing bank statement of not receiving anything.
Anyone with experience in UPI stuff please give your advice.

check your bank statement, it will show more details like upi id, receiver's bank name and ifsc code of branch, etc.
That is why I never send to phone number no matter what. Only use account no. and IFSC 100% success rate.
Get Clarification from sender and receiver bank ...
Try sending 1rs. To same UPI id via Paytm , sometimes it shows last 4 digits of bank account
Or ask that person to install bhim app and check history to know in which account payment got credited.
Tell him to check his all bank accounts. We can set a bank account to receive money when someone sends through mobile number only, not upi id. He must have done that and don't know which account received the payment.
