Astrazenaca was the developer of the vaccine. Covishield was just the name it was marketed in India. It had different names in other countries but the formulation was the same.
1. All vaccines was developed on an accelerated time scale and did not go through rigorous testing. - including Pfizer, Moderna, JJ, Covaxin etc
2. They were given emergency authorizations because all governments were dealing with something unprecedented
3. The companies either lied or did not know about the adverse side effects at first and then decided to cover up and publicly shamed the people who were skeptical of vaccines as being 'conspiracy theorists'
4. All governments lie to their people about various things and it is not surprising that our health ministry did it too. Also if a doubt about these side effects was exposed it would mean a huge chunk of population would be unwilling to come forward to get vaccinated.
5. Now they are saying this adverse reaction is less in Asian/Indian population than European...but how are we to believe if they are telling the truth now.
6. This case is brought up now because at least UK allows some discussion about side effects now after 3 years. On the contrary here the BHU study about the adverse reactions from Covaxin quickly disappeared from public eyes - almost like it was a topic not to be discussed and the word of the ICMR is taken as the gospel truth.
7. Hindsight is always 20-20. Things were unprecedented and people wanted to get back to a semblance of normalcy and vaccination was the supposed path.
