Vi Sim KYC related query

Hi all. My Dad went to a vi store to buy a new additional sim card but the store guys asked about his current vi sim. They told him that your current number does not have KYC and to do KYC you need to port to postpaid otherwise sim will get auto closed anytime. I called customer care they said your sim doesn’t have kyc but you don’t need to port to postpaid for kyc. I wanted to check if they can really auto close the sim? I have done 2 years of recharge already.

tell your father to tell the store that he is from cbi/ed/judge/anti corruption bureau, they never never say shit like that again to him

Postpaid conversion not required but you can get kyc done directly, if that store don't want to do directly then you can try other nearby stores or local shops

You can get your kyc done by visiting local shops

A very common practice in airtel and vi stores.

They find excuses to convert to postpaid.

Yes seems so. The sim card is about 20 years old and still the customer gets treated like this.
