Guys, we are planning to visit Velankanni church in October. About 10 members or so.
Any one of you recently visited ? can you help with cheap and best stays available there may be for 2 days or so ? also, any good places to see around?

I havent been to Velankanni but about an hour north is Tarangambadi. A pretty good place if you are interested in history - it has the Tranquebar Fort - built by Danish East India Company. Even Denmark wanted a pie of the Indian pie.
Further up north there is the famous Pichavaram Magrove Forest - second largest after Sunderbans.
South of Velankanni there is Point Calimere Wildlife and Bird Sanctuary - near Vedaranyam.
