I have no intention of fighting the veg non- veg debate, it’s my personal choice and I feel great about it . But I do feel sad for the pain those animals must be undergoing when they are brutally killed as if there is no respect for life apart from human beings.
I am happy that vegan culture is spreading in the west very fast, at least those people who feel for these animal’s pain will find social support.
good to hear that. yes, not eating at the same place as were all food types is served. isn’t easy.
so i guess no pizza burgers too from dilapidated fast food chains.
it is not about pain alone or feelings, lucky for you @dimepincher isn’t around to pull that thought apart with his, plants too have feelings/ pain line of thought.
for me, i’ve seen beacon getting aged or in simple terms, beef that is is hung in dark rooms to ‘age’ for weeks.
makes no sense to save it from microbial activity by making a mess of it in the first place.
@Rx27 just a note though about ‘vegan’ . please look it up . ‘vegan’ and ‘vegetarian’ lifestyles are two different things and the words, can not be used as synonyms in the contemporary sense. i already touched upon it in the last two lines here > http://www.desidime.com/forums/dost-and-dimes/t...

Dear Professor Kuttosa
Not sure what you are a “professor” in. In England and in India respectively there are “professional” barbers and “professional” rickshaw-pullers. There are “professional” football players, wrestlers and boxers in other countries. And unemployed mendicant professors throughout the graduate world.
Just copied from somewhere,

Thanks for supporting vegetarianism.
Plants do have feelings, but even as per science as a organisms gets more evolved the presence of major sensations I.e. touch, taste, smell, hearing, and vision coexist in one living creature. Plants have some of these but not all. The more the number of these major sensations present in one living creature the more painful is the death for it.
There is a lot more deeper explanation.
Frankly speaking what’s the difference between between animals and human beings apart from our developed brains. Just imagine if another more intelligent species comes up on the planet and starts butchering humans for food, what will you say about that.
I already said its a big debate and I don’t want to get into it.

No sense in point. If such is the case, then why Gow-mutra is considered pious? It also comes from its(Cow’s) parts.

please have a look at it (vegan versus vegetarian lifestyle). because that is the next line of offence people throw to justify ’but you too are bad’.

preaching vegetarianism is better then preaching religion

bro you are my type. Finally I found someone who thinks like me. Religion and caste are stupidity, what I believe in is vegetarianism. Whether one is a Hindu , Muslim, Sikh, Christian, Jain, Buddhist, or Jew doesn’t matter, I feel better off with people who are vegetarian.
@Spock I can’t agree more that vegan and vegetarian differ, but at the end goal is the same not to hurt animals. I have been traveling intensely around the world, but getting vegetarian food was a big problem as people abroad gave mostly no concept of vegetarianism, so rather I started asking for vegan food and it became easier to search food using the term vegan when away from India.
In UK it’s easy to find veg food because all the packaged food has explicitly mentione : suitable for vegetarians
@Rx27 wrote:we humans eat non veg for taste while animals eat for survival arent we more cruel then animals ?@sparkles wrote:

and of saatvik (un crooked) lifestyle/ thoughts too.
plus one to that.
about travelling, well you are relating to the experiences in Europe where pople understand something
i’ve been a comfortable fruitarian through most of my travels in South East Asia or Nigeria, Congo/DRC (if depending on non Indian cooking/ staff or eating out).
have had hilarious (in hindsight) instances when in-flight meals turned out to be some sort of fish-rice for a family member and the airline staff sweetly and politely explainted : it is NOT meat. you requested no meat.. so “Indian veg meal” the concept was dawned upon us.
and yes, i agree , asking for vegan okay food must have been far easier at such places as you spoke of.
When you help a poor, you feel good from within and when you see a good person loosing, you feel bad about him/her. God has programmed us in such a way, we could sense whats wrong and what isn’t. I don’t think we even need to read any holy book like Geeta Ramayan, aapki Aatma ki awaaz hi, bhagwan ki awaaz hai. And Samajhdar ko ishara kafi hai

Ahinsa is the highest Dharm. Ahinsa is the best Tapas. Ahinsa is the greatest gift. Ahinsa is the highest self-control. Ahinsa is the highest sacrifice. Ahinsa is the highest power. Ahinsa is the highest friend. Ahinsa is the highest truth. Ahinsa is the highest teaching. Mahabharat 18.116.37-41
In the Mahabharat, for instance, the great warrior Bheeshm explains to Yuddhishtira, eldest of the Paandav princes, that the meat of animals is like the flesh of one’s own son.

same in-flight experience, when fish was served as vegetarian food, finally survived 10 hours flight with two apples , banana and one sandwich( which did not have mayonnaise).

Yes i should do that now, even if one person changes his mind from NV to V then it would a great achievement for my thread
More then 24 hours passed so can’t edit
i have converted a few non veg to veg and there is a simple trick which all can aquire..
take them for a tour to a slaughter house even if it works on them for a few months u helped save atleast a few lives.
educational institutions should organise trips to slaughter houses let the children see at a tender age what their parents are serving them undergoes so much of bloodshed just for that tastebud. extreme insensitivty is the thought that its.just for taste not for survival for humans.
When you eat Non Veg you are directly/indirectly promoting InHuman acts, please stop eating Bezuban Animal
When we have thousand of alternatives for food then why kill these animals who even can’t speak or express their feelings about our inhuman act….
