Urgent: HSBC Issued Me Live+ Credit Card Then Closed It Abruptly! What should be my further steps?

I’ve been an HSBC customer for over a year, holding a Platinum LTF credit card with a ₹2 lakh limit. I’ve primarily used it for occasional offers and have never missed a payment. My credit score is solid, and I also hold credit cards from all major banks with limits around ₹2 lakh, all of which are managed responsibly with no payment issues.
Recently, I decided to apply for the HSBC Live+ card, attracted by its cashback benefits on grocery spends and lounge access without a spend threshold. As an existing HSBC customer, I was directed to a different application route. I completed the process, and the card was successfully delivered to me with a credit limit of ₹1.47 lakh.
The day after the card was delivered, I was contacted by a representative for office address verification. Since I work remotely and have never physically visited my office, I provided him with the address and location details from my HR. Despite this, he marked the address as “not verified.” I wasn’t informed about the implications of this at the time.
After receiving the card, I activated it and began using it for various purchases, including ₹17,000 for wedding shopping, ₹11,000 for flight bookings for an upcoming Vietnam trip, and ₹4,000 for groceries, totaling around ₹32,000, including the joining fee. I always keep track of my spends and logged into HSBC Internet Banking yesterday to review my transactions. To my surprise, the card was missing from my account.
Initially, I thought it was a technical glitch. However, when I checked again today, the issue persisted. I downloaded the HSBC app to confirm but still couldn’t find the card. Concerned, I contacted phone banking and was informed that the card had been closed. When I asked for the reason, I was given no explanation. Moreover, I received no prior communication or notification regarding the closure.
It was only after checking my spam folder that I found an email, sent just an hour before I called, stating that HSBC was “unable to commence the card relationship.” No further details were provided.
My Questions
- Anyway to restart the card? I really wanted it.
- I want to know why was it closed and is there any recourse?
- Last I checked, joining fee was applied to my card? Do I have to pay it?
- Can I complain to RBI Ombudsman for any compensation/recourse?
- Customer care says go to branch for any queries, in Delhi, branch is only there in central Delhi which is an hour away from my home, will it be beneficial?
- What about the cashback that was accumulated?
Guys please help me on this

HSBC is like "corporate pleasy", they think self employed or businessmen are "shit", they got "hit" as you're not a regular "office-worker" attending your "bosses" everyday, so...
Frame a nice email that you'd be approaching an RBI ombudsman if they don't consider your appeal (attach your ID card photo), let see then...
It was closed with outstanding amount of 32k? Cash back will be forfeited read T&C if card gets closed for any reason. Don't pay the amount ask again for office verification to be done see if they will issue new card if you do office verification. If not apply again after 6 months this time don't miss office verification.
