Hi,

My someone known's phone is stolen today. I have already blocked the SIM of theirs and also contacted axis bank to block mobile app, UPI.

I have already registered online FIR, I can't register on ceir portal right now, because it requires the SIM that was in that phone for OTP.  What more I can do? Phone: Realme narzo 50A, they have already switched off the phone.

The main issue is my as the axis account is now blocked, how can funds be withdrawal as funds needed urgently. Even after SIM reissuance, they can't register for UPI or Mobile app as it requires SIM SMS verification which will be blocked for 24 hours. And they don't remember the Debit card PIN as well, and resetting it also needs OTP.

Is there any way to reset ATM pin over call without the need of OTP? Is there any way we can withdraw funds. Banks are also closed today so cheque will not even help.

Phone and sim have become so crucial fhat we can't afford to lose it.

You can get sim instantly from nearby store of that sim company.

Since you have already contacted Axis bank for blocking things, nothing can be done now without sim OTP and clearing on axis bank side first

or else you could have tried otp using email in internet banking i think (but now you can't as axis bank might have blocked all access to account)

so unless you give written declaration that everything is alright your account wont be unblocked FOR SAFETY OF YOU

as already mentioned by  newton_baba, borrow some money

The primary SIM has become a lifeline. Makes me think everyone should have more than one account with different phone numbers/SIM and different devices just in case god forbid something like this should happen to them.

Lately I've also become paranoid that my senior citizen absent minded father will lose/misplace his phone when going out. So I always suggest he leave his main phone at home and take an old feature phone just for emergency calls. All other things can be done leisurely at home.

Right. Probably in future banks  technology will be advanced to identify person using biometric or eye scan or DNA and remove dependency on phone and OTP. Similar to Sci fi movies showing how transactions are done in future

They way I have worked around this or similar unforeseen situation is, I have 2 mobiles and one primarily tagged to my bank accounts. I call it my OTP phone and it remains 'at home'.
