Someone in police uniform videocalled my mother and told her that his son is being beaten mercilessly send 1.75 lacs or ur son will be framed by his friends xyz in rape case and the girl is dead already.They freaked out and sent him 25k without my knowledge. After the dust settled ,they called me and informed about the matter .what should i do now ?

I have raised the issue with sbi customer care and got the reference no. And got a message to report the home branch with documents to which I have I have given application and took recieveing of it . Later on sbi asked me to report the same on some CMS portal today i did that too..apart from this complained on NPCI portal too.havent done the FIR part as I am pretty fu**ed up by the police from last 4 months

Don't panic! Just stay calm and file required complains. Make parents calm down and have fun with them 
Meanwhile my parents : he is not my son now, take him and do whatever you want to do freely. 😑😑😑
@PROCRASTINATING_VIGILANTE -- The 'son' is you? If yes, you got to think about how much your parents trust you. They should be like 'mera beta aesa kabhi nahi kar sakta' kind of trust level. You got to think that how they believed you got into committing a heinous crime you described!!
I got into a verbal confrontation with the THANA INCHARGE of my village become of his negligence later on I came back to my place from their but my parents stayed ..this is why they had a doubt that I might be framed into some fake case as we have been framed before in a sc/st case...they are under so much tension right now
this is a very common scam now. the scammers use whatapp call feature and the no shown is mostly pakisthan no (+92.....)
make sure to disable unknown caller feature in whatsapp for your parents.

Last 4 months my personal experience ...
Went to village for home construction...got into verbal argument with local police there .....contractor was a fu*king thief ..went through sc/st act ....ended up paying 50k in settlement......spent 20 lacs in home construction (finances ki maa behen )......parents are very good at heart but stupid at same time ...easily trust anyone ...came back to find 7 lacs theft in my sisters home ..had to fight police there ....Investigating officer took bribe and closed the matter even having video evidence......aur Mai advocate hokar bhi kuch na ukhaad paa raha ....is sab ke baad ab upi fraud bhi ho gaya ...final nail in coffin.

To bhai agar kisi ko kuch theek baat pata ho to bina kisi ehsaan kiye bata dena otherwise faltu ki Bakwaas mat karna post pr ....
Parents who aren't tech-savvy shouldn't do online transactions. Better to do it the old way by visiting the bank even if it's slightly inconvenient. Choose a bank closest to home for their frequent financial needs.
Btw, file an FIR (If the police refuse to file, post on Twitter tagging the higher officials instead of trying to bribe and lose more money), then submit a complaint to the bank with the FIR copy and follow up occasionally.
What should you do now🤔🤔 Tell them to call you first before sending money to some one.
My father lost 1.8 lacs last week from meesho.com fraud refund call.. thanks to digital india..
You cannot expect elders to not share otp , you never know what circumstances fraudsters create
police is still trying to find the culprits as we reported within 1 hour
My father is 70+ years old and lives in another city. When he sold a plot worth a lot of money, the first thing I did was to make sure that he deleted the banking app and broke his ATM card. My brother takes care of his daily expenses and if anytime he needs to withdraw a major amount of money, he has to visit the bank. Cumbersome, yes : safe: absolutely, risk of fraud: next to none.

Educate your parents and your relatives about this scam. File cyber complaint in SP office.
i have faced same issue with my father for 98000Rs fraud.
1) Immediately register complaint online in cybercrime portal.
2) call them and update the details if you are not able to update on cybercrime.
3) Go to local police station and give them your acknoledgement number which you regitered online, else they will ask you to do the same.
4) after few days you will start getting message, this much amount blocked for xxxx amount etc...
5) after 2-3 months now this holded funds needs to be in your account you need to hire lawyer for approximately 2000rs which included everything, in that order court will order banks to release the amount to your account.
wait for funds to reflect in your account. NOTE*** i have recovered only 33% amount of 98000rs as complaint was raised 2-3 days late... you need be fast for complaint. else even government cannot help you.

You could have avoided the first line. What is that? Having innocent, caring and less-techy parents isn't something wrong. Probably they learnt a lesson and I hope OP get his money back.
