ENCOUNTER_SH...

Current TV in our home is a 10+ year old LG IPS LCD TV. White patches are being shown on faces and other colours also became white bleach type. Unable to figure out what is exact issue. Thinking to exchange and buy new TV non-smart 32 inch 4K. Will Amazon/Flipkart accept this TV exchange? I have read few reviews that smart TV'S software will become outdated after 2-3 years, so buy non-smart + fire stick/Chromecast combo. Is that true? Please provide links if any 32 inch 4K based on brand value, after sales, longevity etc. I have zero idea about Smart TV'S. So all suggestions/experiences are welcome. TIA

Budget 25-35k

Less sizes also I am willing to check, 2K resolution also fine. It should last long. Also smart TV's has any pros and cons over non-smart TV'S?

aapka kaunse company ka TV hai Encounter bhaiya?
(please 😰 encounter mat kar dena mera🙏🏼. nahin batana tou koi baat nahin. ma8n toy bas. yu hee. because we still have an eighteen year old TV and it works fine. Maybe if you try putting Unilever Fair and Lovely, Garnier all clear Men's facewash on the screen.. then faces might appear okay.)

Answer 1: yes, these on-line portals will take such an unit. They even accept non functional TV's.

Answer 2: my 87 years young aunt too can operate mobiles and so on. Thus software or firmware upgrades for the core operating systems or UI too are possible in devices.

Answer 3: although nothing really gets 'outdated'.. no harm in using standalone TV plus smartbox combo either (loke how ISPs like Jio too provide) or using HDMI sticks like Teewe, Chromecast, Firestick either.

Once I read some nrws story that Resolute group https://resolutegoc.com/about-us Hyderabad, had been approached by big Chinese brands and later by others too.. for both.. as component vendors and complete OEM manufacturer too!

Surprised, I dug deeper to find that Onida and so many others too had relied on them and that they themselves make products under Skyquad and https://radiantappliances.com Radiant brands.

No doubt i somehow connected to their technical head or at-least a vice president on the production side and ate his brains out for almost 38 minutes.

He was like, Karan most companies try gor Six Sigma or zero component failures, but still those can happen with any and all companies.

He also told that LED technologies are fast evolving and if the panel (main display) gets any major issues, then repairability is less or rather unviable as the efforts, costs exceed the cost, efforts of replacement.

During that interaction he was approached at-least twice, by his colleagues, and he said things like 'pehle Panasonic ka consignment jaayega', 'work on XYZ batch first, because Panasonic deadline is day after'.

It transpired that Panasonic is picking up the panels (main display) for some models from Radiant!!

He (the production head) also informed about how OLED and newer tech have challenges when scaled to larger sizes (like 75" and so on)
but his crux was that in smaller sizes, the technology is more or less standardissd.

Some IC (chips) still are imported from Taiwan.. be it the Chinese or us, but rest of the panel and motherboards are completely in-house.

Those manufacturers who cut corners have higher component failure.
(As per him, in such cases, poor quality of power, like surges/spikes, high/low voltage, then damages the parts as the manufacturer decided to do away with internal checks or protections are rated for small variations only).

Overall.. in 32" you could literally go for those India made (Thompson, Kodak) https://superplastronics.com/our-brands or pixk-up private brands of Reliance, Croma, Vijay Sales
or even Motorola type stuff and it might all be good.

I think TCL, Shaomi are using Rafiant Hyderabad.

I would avoid Nokia MarQ as I do not want to deal with Flipkart, Jeeves.. but others even buy those.

In North America.. TCL/Hisense are seen as parallels.

In India, Reliance group even supports Akai😛.. the brand that was launched in India by the Mulchandanis in 1984 (and JR's wife and son were behind the Akai TV success in the 1990s).

So if one does not want to go for Sharp, Sony, Samsung.. then these budget brands and especially the ones with their 'manufacturing' plants here in India.. are a good choice.
(I said 'manufacturing', not assembling. Like if the Hyderabad based Resolute/ Radiant television's have 4%-5% imported components or even 9%-10% imported components, I would still consider the product as manufactured here.
Many brands are bypassing regulatory hurdles by importing most of the parts and only assembling here.)

Buy any 2024 model Sony / Samsung / LG available in your budget and you will have a good quality TV. Other brands in the market make compromises somewhere but not these three.

Out of the budget brands we have, I have a positive opinion of Hisense and TCL.

Regarding software update, our almost 1.5 years old LG haven't received a single software update while a 43 inch MarQ TV received a surprise Android 11 update last month! On top of that, this update enabled HDR settings in Youtube!

I use a Firestick TV 4K and I would recommend buying it with your new TV. Take TV experience to another level.

@ENCOUNTER_SHANKAR -- Regarding your questions,

Will Amazon/Flipkart accept this TV exchange? -- They will but they will most probably pay Rs. 100-500.

I have read few reviews that smart TV'S software will become outdated after 2-3 years, so buy non-smart + fire stick/Chromecast combo. Is that true? -- That's not true. My LG 4K 55inch TV completed 6 years and recently they provided an update to accommodate free channels and made few changes to the user interface. If software becomes outdated meaning say it does not support latest version of YouTube, you still have an option to use it as just a display and add in firestick/Mi Box etc

Please provide links if any 32 inch 4K based on brand value, after sales, longevity etc. -- There are no 'branded' 23 inch 4K TV's available in the market. If you really need one then go for something like this + firestick/Mi Box/Chromecast
