I was supposed to travel tonight via train, but the train has been delayed from the origin station itself by 5.5 hours.

My departure time was 8.45 PM. Now it will be 2.30 AM assuming no more delay.

If I Cancel now, how much refund can I expect? As of now, 4.52 PM, chart has not yet been prepared. I had booked the train from payzapp/smartbuy.

Don't cancel the ticket bro. File TDR selecting reason as Train delayed by more than 3 hours passenger not travelled. You will get a full refund within 90 days.

I think there is a rule of full refund when train is rescheduled for more than 3/4 hours. Kindly check online or follow this AI generated response.

To get a refund for a rescheduled train, you can file a Ticket Deposit Receipt (TDR) online or at a railway station ticket counter:

Online:

Log in to the IRCTC website or app

Go to My Account, then My Transaction

Enter your PNR, train number, and captcha

Check the box to agree with the cancellation rules

Click Submit

Enter the OTP sent to your mobile number

Click Submit again

Select the option to cancel your ticket

At a railway station:

Go to the ticket counter and surrender your ticket

You can file a TDR up to 72 hours before the scheduled departure of the train. You'll receive a full refund if the train is more than three hours late and you file a TDR before the train departs. You must also ensure that all passengers booked on your PNR have not traveled.

If you purchased your ticket online, you can cancel it through the IRCTC website. If you have a counter ticket, you can cancel it at the reservation counter.

The refund process can take at least 60 days.

Did you file TDR before/after cancellation?

Did you cancel before the actual departure time?

Most important:- was your tatkal booking or regular booking?

Regular.

Don't worry, IRCTC has looted you too. In my experience, IRCTC are the No. 1 looters. I've wasted countless amounts of money based on their AI predictions of 71% and 80%, only for them to add a coach at the last minute. Now, I just switch to Tatkal booking, paying an additional ₹100 if the regular waitlist prediction is below 81%
