Tracking HDFC Credit Card Application

My overall experience with HDFC has been bad.

They had messed up Tata Neu Rupay card and delivered to incorrect location and wouldn't change delivery. The card was destroyed on 13Jul.

My experience opening SavingsMax account was even worse. Less said, the better.

But looking at the festive offers I tried applying for a credit card thinking 3 months have passed. And applied through the SavingsMax login so that they pick up address correctly. They offered me Moneyback Plus card.

Now it seems I am unable to track the application because it keeps referring me back to the destroyed Tata Neu card. And keeps telling me "Your Credit Card is destroy"

In that case, how do I track this new CC application? Or there is no hope at all for processing?

Tried that. It doesn't work. Even if I manually enter the new application number it keeps referring back to old application. I just don't know how HDFC is the biggest bank in India with this level of incompetence.

What happened with the savings max opening? Tell us more.

Here's what happened:

1. Applied account online. From experience I knew HDFC has some aggressive targets for employees and that often leads to pushy selling tactics. So, was happy that everything could be done online.

2. Someone came to collect KYC documents. So far so good. This should take 15-20 mins max.

3. Turns out the shady, pushy tactics was still ingrained in the DNA. This guy while saying he was uploading KYC was sneakily cancelling the online application and filling a new application with his referral. As I wanted the account I didn't point to his duplicity. Though told him multiple times that I wanted the auto sweep-in/out.

4. Once the account was opened turned out the facility was available. When I called the guy, he said call the customer care. (Note: You can enable this facility online in ICICI and SBI)

5. This is where the overall incompetence started to show. Customer care had no clue how to check if my account had that enabled. He kept telling me to check with RM. And when I said get me RM number, turned out there was no RM assigned. This where I lost my patience - what kind of "care" were they providing.

6. Called up the branch manager and he said there is a form for sweep-in/out. He will send the account opening for that. No one arrived.

7. Visited a branch to get this done on a Tuesday. That was another show of incompetence. The "systems were down" so everyone was sitting on their asses doing nothing. Even then they couldn't find the form I needed to fill. I was told there was no form and I need to write an application on A4 paper and submit and things will happen in 8-10 days. I did that.

8. But next day got a call saying there was a form I needed to fill and I need to come to the branch again next day. The caller said if it was delayed the processing will be delayed and she will be on leave so she'll ask her colleague to get it done.

9. Went to the branch on Friday and HDFC's first instinct of being unhelpful kicked in again. I was told the person who called was not in so come back tomorrow. I lost my patience again and asked them to get account closing form. Finally spurred some action. Calls were made to the person who had called me and then a form was given. Even then they tried to sell products to me. That was shameless.
